SHE BELIEVES SAPS HAS A POTENTIAL TO BE A MODEL IN THE NATION'S CAPITAL. TOO MANY BLACK, GIFTED LANGUAGE LEARNERS GO UNDERIDENTIFIED BECAUSE OF THE MEASURES WE USED IN FORM OF GENIUS AND BIAS AND THEY DON'T TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THEIR MANY TALENTS. SHE KNOWS THESE TRENDS ARE DISTURBING. I AGREE. THE THING THAT WAS MOST COMPELLING ABOUT HER APPLICATION TO THE COMMITTEE, SHE PROVIDES A PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE. SHE'S AN AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN WITH DOCTORATE. HER HIGH SCHOOL COUNSEL RECOMMENDED SHE ATTEND COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND BECOME A SECRETARY BECAUSE OF OUR SHE SCORED ON A TEST. SHE BECAME A PH.D. HER STORY EXEMPLIFIES EXACTLY WHY WE HAVE SO MUCH WORK TO DO IN THIS DIVISION, IN TAG, REALLY UNDERSTANDING WHAT WHAT WHAT GRIT IS, UNDERSTANDING ALL OF THE QUALITIES THAT MAKE SOMEONE SOMEONE WHO COULD BE SUCCESSFUL AND AGAIN HOLDING HIGH EXPECTATION FOR ALL LEARNERS. THE COMMITTEE RESOLVED TO CONTINUE TO MEET OVER THE SUMMER TO REALLY THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX IN TERMS OF HOW WE CAN DELIVER INSTRUCTION TO STUDENTS. ONE THING THAT CAME OUT OF THAT THAT I THINK THE BOARD WOULD BENEFIT FROM HEARING, WE TALKED ABOUT HOW IN THIS POSTCOVID ERA, EDUCATION HAS BECOME MORE OF A SERVICE THAN A PLACE. THAT MEANS MAYBE PROVIDING TAG SERVICES OR OTHER SERVICES THAT MAY NOT HAVE BEEN AFFORDED TO THE GENERAL POPULATION. HOW DO WE PROVIDE THOSE SERVICES MORE BROADLY SO ALL KIDS HAVE ACCESS TO THESE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES. THAT'S FOOD FOR THOUGHT THAT CAME OUT OF THE MEETING, THE FOCUS OF WHY I PULLED THIS IS BECAUSE OF DR. DENNERVILLE DAVIS WHO I'M EXCITED ABOUT.
