SO I AM RECORDING NOW.

[00:00:03]

OK, OK. JUST TO RECAP, IN CASE WE MISSED IT, WE CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER.

[Item 1]

ALL BOARD MEMBERS ARE PRESENT.

WE MOVE TO ADOPT MS.

[Item 2]

GENTRY MOVE TO ADOPT THE AGENDA IS MS. ALDERTON SECONDED THE MOTION.

AND THE VOTE TO ADOPT THE AGENDA WAS NINE TO ZERO.

OK, NOW WE'RE ONTO THE HEART OF THE MEETING.

[Items 3 & 4]

SO IT'S GOING TO TURN IT OVER TO DR.

HUTCHINGS FOR HIS REPORT.

OK, THANK YOU, MADAM CHAIR.

AND THIS IS OUR NEW NORMAL.

EVERYBODY GET USED TO THIS.

THIS IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT, BUT IT'S FUNNY TO SEE YOU ALL IN YOUR HOMES AND NOT AT THE DAIS, BUT WELCOME TO OUR WORLD.

AND WE'VE HAD A LITTLE MORE PRACTICE WITH THIS BECAUSE WE'VE HAD A TON OF MEETINGS SINCE MONDAY USING ZOOM.

BUT I'M SURE YOU ARE GOING TO BE PROS IN THE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS.

SO OUR TEAM I'VE BEEN SENDING OUT TO YOU ALL EACH DAY SOME VERY DETAILED UPDATES JUST TO KEEP YOU INFORMED AROUND.

JUST SOME OF OUR DECISION MAKING AND SOME OF THE EVENTS THAT ARE TAKING PLACE ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS. AND WHAT WE FELT WAS THAT IT WAS IMPORTANT FOR BOARD MEMBERS TO HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO ENGAGE IN SOME TWO WAY COMMUNICATION.

BECAUSE WHEN I'M SENDING THE UPDATES, IT REALLY ISN'T A PLATFORM FOR US TO HAVE RESPONSES OR FOLLOW UP QUESTIONS ABOUT SOME OF THE INFORMATION THAT'S GOING OUT TO YOU.

SO I KNOW THE THE BOARD CHAIR AND VISE CHAIR, THEY HAD DECIDED THAT IT WOULD BE BEST IF EACH WEEK. AND I AGREED WITH THEM THAT EACH WEEK HAVING YOU ALL HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY ON FRIDAYS TO DO FOLLOW UP QUESTIONS, TO ASK ANY CLARIFYING QUESTIONS, TO HAVE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING AROUND SOME OF OUR ACTIONS THAT WE'RE TAKING TO ADDRESS.

YOU KNOW, THIS WHOLE CORONAVIRUS SITUATION AND SCHOOL CLOSURES WOULD BE BENEFICIAL TO ALL. AND BECAUSE THIS IS THIS UPDATE AND THESE QUESTIONS THAT I SENT YOU ALL ARE RELATED TO THE STATE OF EMERGENCY THAT WAS ANNOUNCED BY THE GOVERNOR.

IT ALLOWS US TO HAVE THESE TYPES OF REMOTE CONVERSATIONS AS LONG AS WE STAY ON THE TOPIC THAT RELATES TO THIS STATE OF EMERGENCY, WHICH IS THE CORONAVIRUS SITUATION.

SO I'VE ASKED OUR SENIOR LEADERS TO BE A PART OF THIS ZOOM MEETING, BECAUSE SOMETIMES THERE MAY BE SPECIFIC QUESTIONS THAT RELATE TO, YOU KNOW, TO THEIR DIFFERENT DEPARTMENTS.

AND THIS IS REALLY AN ALL HANDS ON DECK APPROACH.

IT IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR ANY OF THIS WORK TO BE DONE WITHOUT ALL THE PEOPLE WHO ARE ON THIS ZOOM RIGHT NOW AND HUNDREDS OF OTHERS.

SO I JUST WANT TO FIRST BEFORE WE OPEN THE FLOOR FOR QUESTIONS.

I WANT TO THANK OUR TEAM FOR ALL OF THE WORK THAT THEY HAVE BEEN DOING OVER THE PAST SEVERAL WEEKS. YOU KNOW, I'VE BEEN TALKING TO MANY OF OUR COLLEAGUES AND MY COLLEAGUES.

AND, YOU KNOW, I THINK THAT WE ARE REALLY AHEAD ON THIS PARTICULAR SITUATION WITH THIS PARTICULAR SITUATION.

WE ARE VERY PREPARED.

YOU KNOW, INFORMATION IS COMING TO US DAILY, HONESTLY.

SO WE'RE HAVING TO REVISIT AND REVISE AND REFINE, IT SEEMS LIKE ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS.

AND I KNOW AT SOME POINT THINGS WILL FLATTEN OUT.

BUT RIGHT NOW, WE ARE BEING VERY RESPONSIVE AND IT REQUIRES US TO WORK COLLABORATIVELY TO MAKE THAT ALL HAPPEN. AND I JUST WANTED TO COMMEND OUR TEAM FOR DOING THAT.

SO I REALLY WANT TO USE THIS TIME TO ANSWER QUESTIONS THAT BOARD MEMBERS HAVE, BECAUSE THE INFORMATION THAT I NEED TO GIVE YOU, I'VE ALREADY GIVEN AND YOU'LL GET ANOTHER UPDATE TODAY ONCE THE DAY CONCLUDES.

BUT I WANT TO BE ABLE TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS THAT BOARD MEMBERS HAVE THUS FAR.

SO, MADAM CHAIR, IF YOU WANT TO KIND OF LOOK AT THE ORDER AND, I SEE MEGAN IS ALREADY COMING UP, IF YOU WANT TO CALL IT CONTACT THOSE INDIVIDUALS I WILL BE ABLE ME OR SOMEONE FROM OUR TEAM WILL ANSWER THOSE QUESTIONS.

YES, I HAVE. MS. ALDERTON, PLEASE GO AHEAD.

ALL RIGHT. HEY, EVERYBODY.

SO I HAVE TWO QUESTIONS.

ONE IS RELATED TO AN EMAIL THAT WE RECEIVED YESTERDAY FROM A PARENT REGARDING THE MAURY PLAYGROUND. AND I THINK THIS IS A SORT OF AN ISSUE THAT I'M WONDERING IF WE CAN PUT SOME BOUNDARIES AROUND.

YOU KNOW, THE E-MAIL WAS ABOUT, YOU KNOW, LOOKING ACROSS THE STREET AND SEEING TONS OF KIDS AND TONS OF PEOPLE PLAYING ON THE PLAYGROUND TOGETHER.

[00:05:03]

AND SO I'M JUST QUESTIONING, LIKE, CAN WE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT? CAN WE PUT SOME NOTICES UP TO SORT OF SUPPORT THIS NOTION OF OF, YOU KNOW, WE ARE SOCIAL DISTANCING. SO, YOU KNOW, PLEASE NOT CONVENE 20 ON THE PLAYGROUND AT OUR SCHOOL.

I GUESS. YES.

SO WE HAVE TALKED ABOUT THIS.

WE ACTUALLY TALKED ABOUT IT TODAY AND NOT SPECIFICALLY ABOUT THE MAURY SITUATION.

I DID GET TO SEE THAT E-MAIL YESTERDAY OR LAST.

BUT NOW WE'LL BE RESPONDING TO THAT ONE TODAY.

BUT WE TALKED ABOUT IT ALSO EVEN AT THE SCHOOLS, BECAUSE WE DON'T WANT WE DO WANT TO PROVIDE FAMILIES WITH ESSENTIAL ITEMS. SO, FOR EXAMPLE, PEOPLE WHO NEED CHROMEBOOKS, PEOPLE WHO NEED A TEXTBOOK.

PEOPLE WE WANT TO BE ABLE TO DO THAT.

BUT WE CAN'T, YOU KNOW, NEGATE THE GUIDELINES THAT HAVE BEEN SET IN REGARDS TO HAVING NO MORE THAN 10 PEOPLE.

WE DON'T KNOW FAMILIES WHERE THEY'VE BEEN PRIOR TO COMING TO THE SCHOOL.

WE DON'T WANT TO BE THE FIRST COMMUNITY SPREAD FROM ACPS.

YOU DON'T I MEAN, LIKE WE DON'T WANT TO BE THE CAUSE OF THAT, YOU KNOW? SO WE HAVE TO BE VERY MINDFUL.

BUT THEN WE ALSO WANT TO MAKE SURE PEOPLE HAVE THEIR ESSENTIAL RESOURCES.

PEOPLE HAVE FOOD. YOU KNOW, THERE'S SO MANY THINGS THAT WE STILL WANT TO ENSURE THAT WE'RE DOING. WE WANT KIDS HAVE PHYSICAL ACTIVITY OUT OF THE HOUSE BECAUSE THEY ARE AT A POINT WHERE, YOU KNOW, THEY JUST TIRED OF BEING STUCK INSIDE THEIR HOMES.

BUT, YES, WE'VE DISCUSSED OF SENDING INFORMATION OUT, JUST REMINDING OUR FAMILIES ABOUT SOCIAL DISTANCING, REMINDING OUR FAMILIES AROUND THE SOCIAL GATHERING IN THE GUIDELINES OF NO MORE THAN 10.

SO THAT WE'RE JUST REINFORCING THAT WE'RE NOT GOING TO SEND, YOU KNOW, LIKE THE POLICE OUT TO TELL PEOPLE TO LEAVE OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT.

BUT WE DO WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR FAMILIES ARE AWARE WE'RE GOING DO A, YOU KNOW, A MORE CONTINUOUS EFFORT TO DISCOURAGE PEOPLE TO NOT HAVE MORE THAN 10 IN ANY SOCIAL GATHERING, NOT JUST PLAYGROUNDS, BUT ANYWHERE.

AND PEOPLE SHOULD ALSO NOTICE THAT KING STREET IS LIKE A GHOST TOWN NOW, JUST WALKED DOWN YESTERDAY. EVERY STORE IS CLOSED, PLACES THAT ARE OPEN, THEY LITERALLY ONLY HAVE 10 CHAIRS. SO ALL THE SEATS ARE GONE.

THERE ARE NO TABLES IN SOME RESTAURANTS THERE, 10 CHAIRS.

AND THAT'S IT IN THOSE SPACES.

SO WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE HEARING TO THOSE GUIDELINES TOO.

AND I THEN I HAD ONE MORE QUESTION, I'M SORRY.

CAN I JUST DO TWO AT ONE TIME? BUT YEAH, I THINK MS ANTHONY HAD SOMETHING SHE WANTED TO SAY, SO.

SO MAYBE SHE CAN RESPOND TO THIS PART AND THEN YOU CAN ASK YOUR OTHER QUESTION.

SURE. YEAH.

SO THE OTHER THE ISSUE, AS YOU KNOW, SOMETIMES THERE ARE PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITY GATHERING AND SOMETIMES THEY'RE NOT.

AND WE'VE HAD SOME ORGANIZATIONS ACTUALLY REACH OUT TO PRINCIPALS AND SAY, CAN WE USE THE TENNIS COURTS AT TC? WE SAID NO. AND THEN MS. CORDOVA HAS GONE AROUND TO A NUMBER OF SCHOOLS AND IS VERY CONCERNED THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO HAVEN'T ASKED PERMISSION BUT WHO ARE CONGREGATING.

PETE CONTACTED HIM AND SAID SIGNS ARE NOT ENOUGH.

YOU NEED TO HAVE SECURITY OFFICERS TELLING PEOPLE THAT THEY SHOULD NOT CONGREGATE.

AND I DON'T THINK THAT THAT'S GOING TO BE SOMETHING THAT WE CAN DO AND SUSTAIN.

SO, DR.

HUTCHINGS, WE'RE GOING TO TALK ABOUT IT ON MONDAY SOME MORE.

SO BUT THE SIGNAGE, YES, WE ARE GOING TO SIGN IT.

SO WE'RE GOING TO START THERE.

THANK YOU. AND THEN THE NEXT QUESTION I HAD, I WANTED CLARIFICATION ON PAY FOR CASUAL EMPLOYEES. THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF CASUAL EMPLOYEES, CORRECT? SOME HAVE CONTRACTS AND SOME DO NOT.

IS THAT RIGHT? THAT IS CORRECT.

OK. SO IT IS THERE IS STILL IS THE PLAN STILL TO HAVE PAY FOR CASUAL EMPLOYEES WHO HAVE CONTRACTS.

SO THAT THAT'S ALWAYS BEEN THE PLAN FOR ANYBODY WITH A CONTRACT.

WE'RE TRYING TO FILTER THROUGH IS THAT THERE'S SOME CASUAL EMPLOYEES WHO DON'T HAVE CONTRACTS, BUT THEY WORK REGULARLY, MEANING THEIR JOBS ARE CONTINUOUS.

IT'S NOT LIKE A RANDOM WHERE SOME SUBSTITUTES YOU COME IN IF SOMEBODY IS OUT OR A BUS DRIVER OR SOMEBODY CALLS IN AND WE CALL YOU TO COME IN.

YOU KNOW, YOU DON'T WORK EVERY DAY.

SO WE'RE TRYING TO FILTER THROUGH SOME OF THOSE WHO DO NOT HAVE CONTRACTS.

WE'RE STILL WORKING THROUGH THAT RIGHT NOW, WE JUST MET WITH OUR PRINCIPALS AT 10 O'CLOCK

[00:10:03]

AND WE'RE TRYING TO JUST FINALIZE TO IDENTIFY WHO THOSE INDIVIDUALS ARE WHO MAY NOT HAVE A CONTRACT SO THAT WE'RE NOT LIKE SAYING EVERYBODY WITHOUT A CONTRACT.

SOME PEOPLE WITHOUT CONTRACTS ARE STILL NEEDED TO DO TO DO WORK.

SO WE'RE TRYING TO FILTER THROUGH THAT SITUATION.

OK. SORRY.

OK, GO AHEAD. I'M SORRY.

IS DR. WILKINS ON THE LINE? I DON'T SEE HIM. YES, HE IS.

HE'S ON THERE. OK.

I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT WE I THINK THAT THERE ARE MY UNDERSTANDING IS THERE'S HOURLY THERE ARE PEOPLE ON CONTRACT WHO ARE HOURLY AND THEN THERE'S CASUALS.

I JUST DIDN'T WANT MISOGYNY TO GO AWAY THINKING THAT THERE'S CASUAL APPOINTEES WHO ARE UNDER CONTRACT. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT'S CORRECT.

WE'RE JUST CALLING THEM CASUAL EMPLOYEES, AND THAT'S WHAT MAKES IT COMPLICATED, IS THAT WE HAVE BEEN CALLING PEOPLE WHO ARE HOURLY WORKERS, CASUAL EMPLOYEES, YOU KNOW, GO IN.

AND THAT'S WHAT MAKES IT COMPLICATED.

BUT THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT WE WANT TO LOOK AT PEOPLE WHO HAVE CONTRACTS AND PEOPLE WHO DON'T. BUT JUST BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE A CONTRACT DOESN'T MEAN WE DON'T WANT TO PAY YOU.

BECAUSE SOME PEOPLE WHO DON'T HAVE A CONTRACT HAVE REGULAR WORK THAT THEY DO FOR US THAT THEY'RE GOING TO CONTINUE TO DO FOR US.

WE JUST HAVE TO WORK THROUGH THAT LIST.

AND THAT'S WHAT MAKES IT KIND OF COMPLICATED.

WE'VE BEEN USING THOSE TERMS INTERCHANGEABLY OVER THE PAST FEW MONTHS AND IT'S CAUSED A LITTLE CONFUSION. AND THAT'S WHY WE'RE TRYING TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THAT CONFUSION.

WELL, WE WILL HAVE, YOU KNOW, MORE OF A RESPONSE WITH SOME CLEAR DIRECTIVES HOPEFULLY BY THE END OF TODAY IS WHAT WE WANTED PRINCIPLES TO HAVE.

AND WE'LL SHARE THAT INFORMATION WITH YOU ALL TOO.

OK, NEXT UP, I HAVE MS. NOLAN. THANK YOU, CHAIR ANDERSON.

SO MY QUESTION WAS, IS THERE ANY I KNOW WE'RE PROBABLY ALL CONCERNED ABOUT THIS AS A WHOLE NEW DEFINITION OF SUMMER SLIDE THAT MANY OF OUR LOWER INCOME STUDENTS ARE GOING TO BE EXPERIENCING. I WAS JUST CURIOUS IF THERE WAS ANY PARTICULAR OUTREACH BEING DONE TO ENSURE THAT THOSE STUDENTS ARE ACADEMICALLY STAYING ON TOP OF THEIR WORK, AS WELL AS IF WE COULD GET AN UPDATE ON HOW'S THE FOOD PROGRAM GOING? AND WHAT'S WHAT'S BEEN THE RESPONSE FOR THAT AND THE PLANNING AS INFORMATION CONTINUES TO CHANGE. OK, I'M SORRY ABOUT THAT, I PUSHED THE WRONG BUTTON. SO, YES, FOR THE SUMMER SLIDE PIECE, I'M GOING TO ASK FOR DR.

MOZINGO TO CHIME IN ON THIS AS WELL.

BUT IT IS DEFINITELY IMPORTANT.

AND FOR ALL OF US TO KNOW THAT SUMMER SLIDE IS REAL.

AND IT'S NOT JUST FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE LOW INCOME, BUT REALLY ALL OF OUR STUDENTS AT THIS TIME BECAUSE WE ARE NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE ANY NEW INFORMATION TO STUDENTS.

SO RIGHT NOW THAT IT IS AGAINST THE LAW FOR US TO PROVIDE ANY NEW INFORMATION OR GRADE ANY WORK BECAUSE WE ARE RECEIVING FEDERAL FUNDS AND WE CANNOT WE CANNOT VALIDATE THAT STUDENTS WHO HAVE SPECIAL NEEDS, THAT STUDENTS WHO HAVE EL SERVICES AT ALL OF THOSE SERVICES ARE BEING OFFERED TO, THAT THEY HAVE THE RIGHT OR THE FREE, YOU KNOW, THE FREEDOM TO BE ABLE TO HAVE THOSE SERVICES.

SO BECAUSE WE CANNOT PROVIDE ALL THE MODIFICATIONS AND ALL THOSE SERVICES.

WE ARE NOT ABLE AS A SCHOOL DIVISION, NOT JUST ACPS, BUT ANY SCHOOL DIVISION IN VIRGINIA ABLE TO GRADE THE WORK OR ABLE TO INTRODUCE NEW MATERIAL.

SO WITH THAT SAID, SOME THINGS THAT WE ARE TRYING TO DO.

AND DR. MOZINGO, SHE CAN CHIME IN AND ELABORATE MORE.

BUT SOME THINGS THAT WE ARE TRYING TO DO IS TO ENSURE THAT THESE LEARNING PACKETS ARE AT OUR HOMES, THAT SOME OF THE RESOURCES, LIKE OUR CHROMEBOOK, LIKE OUR ONLINE TUTORING PARENTS WHO DON'T HAVE THE ABILITY OR DON'T HAVE THE TIME OR IT JUST MAYBE ARE NOT AVAILABLE TO PROVIDE SOME OF THOSE INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORTS THAT STUDENTS CAN STILL HAVE THAT IN THE HOME.

BUT DR. MOZINGO, YOU MAY WANT TO ELABORATE A LITTLE MORE.

YES. GOOD MORNING. WELL, GOOD AFTERNOON.

GOOD AFTERNOON, EVERYONE.

SO WHAT WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PROVIDE, BECAUSE DR.

HUTCHINGS IS RIGHT. WE CAN'T MEET THOSE HOWEVER, I DO WANT TO PREFACE THIS WITH WE HAVE PROVIDED COMMUNICATION IN FOUR DIFFERENT AREAS, BUT THAT RELATES WHAT RELATE TO YOUR QUESTION IS WE PROVIDED A LOT OF GUIDANCE FOR DIFFERENT EMPLOYEES IN THE AREA OF CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION.

AND WHY THAT'S IMPORTANT IS THAT WE PROVIDED INSTRUCTIONAL SUGGESTIONS FOR ELEMENTARY TEACHERS, SECONDARY TEACHERS, CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION TEACHERS.

[00:15:05]

WE WE COVERED EVERY CATEGORY IN THE DOCUMENTS THAT WE HAVE DEVELOPED.

SO WE'VE SAID TO THE DIFFERENT EMPLOYEES DURING THIS TIME YOU ARE YOU CAN USE CAMPUS, YOU CAN CONNECT WITH ZOOMS. YOU CAN USE DIGITAL DEVICES.

THE DOCUMENT COVERS, AS I SAID, FINE ARTS, PHYSICAL EDUCATION, WORLD LANGUAGES.

WE PROVIDED EXTENSIVE INFORMATION TO THOSE AREAS, EVEN FOR EL LEARNERS.

WE'VE SAID TO THE TEACHERS HERE ARE SOME EXPECTATIONS FOR HOW YOU SUPPORT ENGLISH LEARNERS DOING THIS TIME.

WE'VE GOT A SECTION IN THE CURRICULUM, THE INSTRUCTION AND THE TWO OTHER DOCUMENTS FOR STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS.

WE'RE ALSO IN THE MIDST OF DEVELOPING SOMETHING FOR TELEVISION WHERE OUR STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO, BUT WE'RE STILL WORKING ON THAT WITH HELLEN.

AND WE DO HAVE A SHOW, I THINK THAT STARTED YESTERDAY IN THE AREA OF WITH ONE OF THE MUSEUMS. BUT WE ARE GOING TO SEE HOW WE CAN UTILIZE THE TELEVISION PROGRAM, THE TELEVISION AND POST SOME PROGRAMS FOR FAMILIES.

BUT THE LEARNING I DO BELIEVE THE LEARNING PACKETS, I THINK ALSO THE INSTRUCTIONAL GUIDANCE THAT WAS DEVELOPED BY EACH OF THE SCHOOLS FOR VARIOUS STUDENTS IS A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF INFORMATION RIGHT NOW AS WE GET CLOSER TO WHATEVER OTHER DECISION HAS TO BE MADE. AND WE KNOW THAT WE'RE GOING TO HAVE TO CONTINUE TO WORK WITH TEACHERS AND OTHERS TO PROBABLY LOOK AT SOME ADDITIONAL TYPES OF RESOURCES THAT.

SO I JUST BELIEVE THAT WE'VE GOT A LOT OF RESOURCES AND ACTIVITIES THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN COMMUNICATED TO OUR DIFFERENT EMPLOYEES.

AND ALSO WITH THE LEARNING PACKETS, YOU KNOW THAT IN GRADES 6-12, TEACHERS CAN POST ASSIGNMENTS. THEY CAN MAY HAVE ZOOM CONFERENCES AS A LOT OF DIGITAL COMMUNICATION, 6-12.

WE ALSO HAVE A CONTRACT WITH DR.

HOOVER WITH TUTOR.COM WHERE A LOT OF OUR STUDENTS CAN GO ONLINE AND GET A LOT OF LIVE TUTORIAL SUPPORT.

STARTING NEXT WEEK, I THINK WE'RE GOING TO SEE, YOU KNOW, MORE OF A DIVISION WIDE KIND OF RESPONSE TO THIS BECAUSE WE JUST IMPLEMENTED THOSE GUIDELINES AND EXPECTATIONS THIS WEEK.

BUT THE EXPECTATION IS THAT STARTING MONDAY, EVERYBODY IS, YOU KNOW, REACHING OUT TO STUDENTS, MAKING SURE SO IT WON'T BE LIKE YOU HAVE TO HAVE A TEACHER THAT HAS DONE IT LIKE IT WAS. NOW EVERYBODY'S EXPECTED TO REACH OUT.

ALL KIDS IN SO THAT WE CAN'T MISS ANY OF OUR STUDENTS.

SO I THINK THAT'S GOING TO HELP WITH THESE EXPECTATIONS THAT HAVE BEEN SET.

SO WE'LL BE ABLE TO PROVIDE ANOTHER UPDATE NEXT WEEK.

MS. NOLAN JUST TO, YOU KNOW, SO THAT YOU CAN SEE HOW THE PROGRESS HAS MADE FROM THIS FIRST WEEK WHEN IT WHEN THE CLEAR EXPECTATIONS WERE NOT THERE FOR FOR OUR STAFF VERSUS NEXT WEEK WHEN EVERYBODY DOES HAVE A CLEAR EXPECTATIONS AROUND INSTRUCTIONAL FOCUS AREAS.

AND CHAIR ANDERSON, DO YOU MIND IF I ASK A FOLLOW UP QUESTION TO THAT.

GO AHEAD. WHAT ARE WE DOING ABOUT STUDENTS THAT WERE ABSENT ON FRIDAY THAT DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO THE PACKETS AND DEVICES AS WELL AS IF YOU DON'T MIND JUST SHARING? ALSO, WHAT'S YOUR TAKE ON HOW THE FOOD PROGRAM IS GOING? SO WE JUST HAD A DISCUSSION WITH THE PRINCIPALS TODAY ABOUT STUDENTS THAT DID NOT PICK UP THE PACKETS OR THEIR CHROMEBOOKS.

SO THE SCHOOLS ARE ACTUALLY THERE.

ACTUALLY, THERE WERE SOME SCHOOLS THAT HAD PROVIDED TIME, BLOCK OF TIME FOR PARENTS TO COME BY AND PICK UP THOSE TWO ITEMS. BUT SCHOOLS NEXT WEEK WILL THEY'RE WORKING OUT A SYSTEM FOR THOSE PARENTS TO BE ABLE TO.

THEY COULD COME BY THE SCHOOL LIKE A PRINCIPAL MIGHT GO IN THE MAIN OFFICE WHERE THEY HAVE ALL THE MATERIAL STORED.

MEET THE PARENTS ON THE OUTSIDE AND PROVIDE THOSE RESOURCES TO STUDENTS WHO WERE ABSENT.

THE SCHOOLS ACTUALLY HAVE A LIST THAT MAINTAIN A LIST OF ALL THE STUDENTS WHO WERE ABSENT. SCHOOLS HAVE ALSO CONTACTED THOSE FAMILIES AND THEY'RE MAKING SOME ADDITIONAL PROVISIONS NEXT WEEK.

PLUS, CHILDREN WHO WERE ABSENT.

WE EVEN HAD ONE PRINCIPAL THAT DELIVERED A DEVICE, A CHROMEBOOK, TO AN ELEMENTARY STUDENT TODAY. SO THEY ARE AWARE THEY'RE VERY CONCERNED ABOUT ALL STUDENTS, BUT THEY'RE REALLY CONCERNED ABOUT THOSE STUDENTS THAT WERE ABSENT ON FRIDAY AND MAKING PROVISIONS FOR THEM TO RECEIVE THEIR RESOURCES IN THOSE TWO AREAS, THE LEARNING PACKETS AND THE CHROMEBOOKS.

AND ALSO KNOWING THAT WE'RE TRYING TO PROTECT THEM, TOO.

AND, YOU KNOW, GIVEN WHAT IS GOING ON IN THIS SITUATION.

SO I KNOW MINYON AND KURT.

CAN YOU RESPOND TO THE FOOD DISTRIBUTION? SURE. SO LIKE EVERY OTHER JURISDICTION, WE ALL STOOD UP A VERY QUICK OPERATION ALL OUT OF T.C.'S STARTING ON MONDAY.

[00:20:01]

WE'VE HAD OUR FITS AND STARTS.

WE THINK IN GENERAL THERE'S A BUNCH OF DATA THAT SHOWS THE SIXTEEN HUNDRED OR SO MEALS A DAY THAT WE'VE BEEN DISTRIBUTING.

WE WERE A LITTLE FRUSTRATED WITH HOW TO CONNECT WITH PARENTS COMMUNICATION WISE IN TERMS OF GETTING FOOD DELIVERY.

BUT WE LEARNED A LOT OF LESSONS AND THEREFORE THAT'S HOW THAT'S WHAT WE'RE USING AS A MODEL OF COURSE CHECKING WITH ALL OF OUR VARIOUS NEIGHBORING JURISDICTIONS TO FIND OUT HOW THEY'RE DEALING WITH THE PROGRAM AND COMING UP WITH AS MANY WAYS AS POSSIBLE TO FEED OUR FAMILIES, MAKE SURE WE'RE BEING ACCOUNTABLE, MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE COMPLYING WITH THE STATE REQUIREMENTS AND THE VIRGINIA OF THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH.

WORKING WITH OUR VOLUNTEERS.

SO WE'VE GOT A NETWORK.

I THINK WE'VE GOT A PRETTY GOOD STRUCTURE SET UP.

ON WEDNESDAY, THE PARTNERSHIP AND FACE GROUP AND COMMUNICATIONS AND STUDENT NUTRITION SERVICES, WE ALL GOT TO GET THERE AND TRANSPORTATION TO COME UP WITH THIS NEW MODEL THAT YOU'RE SEEING TODAY THAT WE'RE GOING TO PURSUE NEXT WEEK.

WE'RE HOPING TO BE MORE ORGANIZED WITH OUR DISTRIBUTION, PUT IT IN MORE LOCATIONS WHERE PEOPLE CAN GET IN TOUCH AND COME AND PICK UP FOODS.

THE WHOLE ISSUE OF HOW MANY MEALS YOU CAN SERVE AND MAKING SURE THAT THERE ARE CHILDREN, THAT THERE ARE STUDENTS INVOLVED AND GETTING THE MEALS AND THAT YOU'RE NOT, YOU KNOW, PROVIDING MULTIPLE MEALS AND DUPLICATING MULTIPLE MEAL DISTRIBUTION.

I MEAN, THERE'S A LOT OF LOGISTICS GOING INTO THAT.

BUT I MEAN, WE FEEL IN GENERAL THAT WE'VE BEEN VERY THAT WE REALLY DONE VERY WELL AND THAT WE'RE GOING TO BE ABLE TO FINE TUNE IT.

NEXT WEEK, WE'RE GOING TO BE PUTTING A MOBILE POP UP OPERATION INTO PLACE, BUT MAKING SURE WE HAVE THE RIGHT LOCATION THAT WE CAN PARK WHERE THAT LOCATION IS, THAT WE CAN DISTRIBUTE MEALS TO PEOPLE WHO CANNOT GET TO THE FOUR SITES ARE ALL CONSIDERATIONS THAT WE'RE WORKING ON RIGHT THIS VERY MINUTE.

AND FINE TUNING.

YOU KNOW HOW THAT WORKS.

PUTTING A NEW HOTLINE IN PLACE THAT'S GOING TO PROVIDE TEXT MESSAGING AND HOTLINE AND SERVICES FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE SPECIAL NEEDS THAT WE CANNOT GET WHO CANNOT GET TO THE DISTRIBUTION SITES.

SO THOSE ARE THE THINGS THAT WE'RE WORKING ON RIGHT AWAY.

KURT, DID YOU WANT TO ADD TO THAT? NO, EXCEPT FROM JUST THE OUTREACH SIDE OF THINGS, AS MIGNON SAID, FACE AND FROM MY OFFICE, WHO IS A SUPERSTAR, HAS COME UP WITH A PRETTY GOOD OUTREACH PLAN IN TERMS OF IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT THE NEW FOOD DISTRIBUTION THAT THEY CAN TEXT, ANYONE CAN TEXT TO A SPECIFIC NUMBER THAT WILL BE LISTED AND THEY JUST TEXT ACPS MEALS AND THEN ASK THEIR QUESTION. AND OUR OFFICE WILL THEN TAKE IN THOSE QUESTIONS AND EITHER ANSWER THEM DIRECTLY IF WE HAVE THAT INFORMATION OR DISSEMINATE IT TO THE RIGHT CONTACT FOR THEM TO ANSWER IT. THAT WILL TAKE CARE OF A LOT OF THOSE QUESTIONS THAT COME IN THROUGH ENGLISH AND SPANISH. THEN WHAT WE'LL DO IS USE OUR PARENT DIVISION WIDE LIAISONS IN AMHARIC AND ARABIC TO HELP ANSWER QUESTIONS.

THERE'LL BE AN OPEN HOTLINE FOR THEM FROM 8 I DON'T HAVE IT IN FRONT OF ME.

BUT FROM LIKE EIGHT TO FIVE EACH DAY ARE IN AMHARIC AND ARABIC TRANSLATOR.

PARENT LIAISONS WILL THEN BE ABLE TO ANSWER QUESTIONS AND DISSEMINATE IF THEY NEED TO DISSEMINATE TO OTHER STAFF FOR THEM TO ANSWER ALL ABOUT THIS MEAL PROGRAM AND AND PROBABLY SOME OTHER QUESTIONS TOO, DEPENDING ON WHAT THE QUESTION IS.

SO THEY'RE WORKING ON THAT OUTREACH PLAN.

THEY'RE ALMOST FINISHED WITH IT ALL, BUT EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE IN PLACE, READY TO GO BY MONDAY. GREAT, THANKS.

NEXT UP, I HAVE MS. GREEN. THANK YOU, CHAIR ANDERSON.

AND HELLO, EVERYONE.

DR. HUTCHINGS. QUESTION FOR YOU, PLEASE.

SO RECENTLY AN ALEX NOW ARTICLE CAME OUT THAT SAID WE ARE CONSIDERING CLOSING SCHOOLS FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR.

I SEE YOU SMILING.

THIS HAS GARNERED A LOT OF RUMORS IN THE COMMUNITY, AND I'M SURE OTHERS HAVE HEARD FROM PARENTS LIKE MYSELF.

SO IF YOU COULD GIVE US AN UPDATE ON THAT.

SO WE HAVE CLEANER INFORMATION TO PROVIDE FOR THEM.

IF ANYBODY WAS GONNA BE CLOSING SCHOOL, IT WOULD BE IN A MEETING LIKE THIS THAT THAT WILL BE SHARED NOT BY ALEX NOW OR AT A CITY COUNCIL MEETING.

I READ THE I READ THE ARTICLE AS WELL.

AND WHEN YOU READ THE ARTICLE, THERE IS NOTHING SAYING THAT IN THE ARTICLE.

IF YOU READ IT AS I DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW THEY CAME UP WITH THE TITLE.

HELEN DID REACH OUT TO JAMES THOUGH ABOUT THE TITLE, AND THEY MADE SOME MODIFICATIONS TO IT, I BELIEVE TOOK THE TITLE BECAUSE THAT IS NOT ACCURATE.

[00:25:01]

WE KNOW WE'RE GOING TO HAVE A CONTINUATION PLAN IN PLACE IF WE WERE TO HAVE TO CLOSE SCHOOLS THROUGH THE END OF THE YEAR.

SO WE'RE GONNA BE WORKING THROUGH THAT JUST IN CASE.

BUT AS OF RIGHT NOW, OUR PLAN IS TO COME BACK OR OPEN SCHOOLS ON APRIL 13TH.

THAT IS THAT IS OUR CURRENT PLAN.

BUT AS YOU ALL KNOW, THINGS CHANGE EVERY DAY.

SO I CAN'T GUARANTEE TO THIS APRIL 13TH, BUT I HAVE, YOU KNOW, NEVER STATED THAT WE'RE GONNA BE CLOSED TO THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR.

THE INITIAL HEADLINE SAID, SUPERINTENDENT SAID ACPS SCHOOLS CLOSED THROUGH THE END OF SCHOOL. THAT'S WHAT THE INITIAL ONE.

I THINK IT HAS BEEN CHANGED LIKE TWO OR THREE TIMES IF YOU KEEP LOGGING IN TO SEE IT.

BUT RIGHT NOW WE ARE PLANNING TO OPEN ON APRIL 13TH.

BUT WE DO HAVE A CONTINUATION PLAN IF WE ARE ORDERED BY EITHER THE GOVERNOR OR THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TO KEEP OUR SCHOOLS CLOSED PAST THAT DATE.

WE'RE WORKING ON A PLAN.

IF WE WERE TO HAVE TO DO THAT, WHAT THAT WILL LOOK LIKE.

THANKS FOR ASKING. MS. GREEN. OK.

NEXT STEP, I HAVE MS. GENTRY.

HI, EVERYBODY. TWO QUESTIONS.

THE FIRST ONE, I WANTED TO THANK YOU ALL FOR THE INVITE FOR NEXT MONDAY FOR THE THIS THE SUBCOMMITTEE MEETING, THE REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING THAT HAPPENS WITH THE CITY COUNCIL AND AND SCHOOL BOARD.

I'M GLAD THAT THAT'S GOING TO BE ZOOM-ABLE.

SO I JUST KIND OF WANTED I THOUGHT TO BE A GOOD MOMENT JUST FOR IT FOR TECHNICAL CLARIFICATION. I MEAN, THE PROCESS FOR THAT MEETING IS, IS THAT WE'RE ALWAYS INVITED.

WE'RE ALWAYS WELCOME TO ATTEND THAT MEETING.

BUT EXCEPT FOR THE CHAIR AND THE VICE CHAIR, WHO ARE OUR REPRESENTATIVES TO THAT MEETING, DR. HUTCHINGS, ANY OF US THAT ARE PARTICIPATING.

ARE IN THAT MEETING ARE PARTICIPATING AS VIEWERS TO THE MEETING.

SO WE'RE NOT I GUESS I JUST WANTED TO SAY TO CLARIFY THAT RIGHT NOW AND IF THAT IS IN FACT THE CASE, THEN ENCOURAGE US THAT IF IF WE HAD QUESTIONS THAT WE WANTED TO GET ASKED ON THE CITY SIDE, I'M ASSUMING THE BEST WAY TO DO THAT WOULD BE FOR US TO REACH OUT TO THE SCHOOL BOARD LEADERSHIP OVER THE WEEKEND.

SO CAN I GET A CLARIFICATION ON THAT? I THINK WE WOULD HAVE TO TALK TO A BOARD CHAIR WOULD HAVE TO TALK WITH THE MAYOR.

AND I MEAN, I'M NOT REALLY SURE HOW TO RESPOND TO THAT.

I DON'T KNOW. I THINK IF WE HAD AN OPEN MEETING, FOR EXAMPLE, THAT WAS AN OPEN MEETING BOARD MEMBERS. I SEE BOARD MEMBERS, THEY ATTEND SOMETIMES THOSE MEETINGS WHEN THEY'RE IN PERSON. SO I DON'T THINK IT'S ANY DIFFERENT, BUT I DON'T.

THAT'S A GOOD QUESTION. YEAH, I THINK THAT'S A GOOD QUESTION.

I'LL REACH OUT TO DUSTIN ABOUT IT, BECAUSE REALLY, I GOT THE INVITE AND THERE HADN'T BEEN ANY DISCUSSION PRIOR TO GETTING THE INVITE.

SO SO REALLY, I'M GOING TO REACH OUT AND SEE WHAT WHAT THE WHAT THE AGENDA IS GOING TO LOOK LIKE. GREAT.

AND THEN JUST MY SECOND QUESTION, I'LL JUST GO AHEAD AND DO IT NOW, IF THAT'S OK.

SO ONE QUESTION THAT THAT THAT THAT HAS COME UP, YOU KNOW, IN MY WORKPLACE AND MAYBE SOME OTHER WORKPLACES IS, YOU KNOW, THERE THERE'S THE CURRENT SITUATION OF CERTAINLY LIMITING THE NUMBERS TO 10 OR FEWER.

AND THAT KIND OF THING. SO.

AND OBVIOUSLY, WE'RE HOLDING TO THAT, THAT DOES STILL MEAN THAT, YOU KNOW, TO A LIMITED EXTENT, THERE IS SOME STILL SOME STAFF IN THE IN THE BUILDING.

ONE QUESTION THAT I HAD FOR YOU ALL IS.

AND YOU MAY NOT BE THINKING ABOUT THIS IN THE MOST IMMEDIATE NEXT COUPLE OF WEEKS, BUT MAYBE IF THIS EXTENDS FURTHER.

IS THERE ANY THINKING ON THE FACILITY SIDE OF A POSSIBILITY OF PERHAPS SOME CONTRACTOR WORK THAT HAD BEEN, YOU KNOW, ON A LIST, BUT REQUIRED THERE TO BE NO STUDENTS IN THE BUILDING? IS THERE ANY POSSIBILITY OF OR ANY THOUGHT ABOUT ANY OF THOSE THINGS HAPPENING EARLIER? WHILE THE BUILDINGS ARE, YOU KNOW, ESSENTIALLY CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC.

SO WE ARE WE HAVE A LIST OF ACTIVITIES THAT ARE BEING DONE WHILE THE FACILITIES ARE CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC. BUT I ALSO HAVE A LIST FROM BOTH OF BY AND FROM ALL OF MY DIRECTORS ON BOTH ITEMS THAT WERE BEING DONE WITH OPERATING BUDGET AND ITEMS THAT ARE BEING DONE WITH CIP SO WE CAN LOOK AT WHICH MAYBE WHICH ACTIVITIES MIGHT GET POSTPONED OR HELD OFF IN ORDER TO SORT OF CHARACTERIZE HOW WE'RE SPENDING OUR FUNDS DURING THIS TIME AT THE SAME

[00:30:05]

TIME. SO I HAVEN'T LOOKED AT THE LIST THEY SENT TO ME LAST NIGHT.

I HAVEN'T HAD A CHANCE TO READ IT YET, BUT IT'S SUPPOSED TO PRIORITIZE THOSE ACTIVITIES, WHETHER THEY'RE CIP FUNDED PROJECTS OR OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE PROJECTS, WHICH HAVE A PRIORITY TO THAT COULD BE DONE DURING THIS TIME.

SO I GUESS THAT'S REALLY THE WAY OF ANSWERING.

YES, WE'RE TRYING TO TO BE EFFICIENT ON ALL ENDS.

GREAT, THANKS FOR THAT.

OK. NEXT UP, I HAVE MS. LORBER. WAIT, AM I MUTED? CAN YOU HEAR ME? YES, WE CAN HEAR YOU.

GO AHEAD. OK. ALL RIGHT.

OH, I SEE YOU UNMUTED ME.

GOT IT. HI, EVERYBODY.

LOVE SEEING DR. HUTCHING'S SMILING FACE THERE.

MY MAIN QUESTION HAS TO DO WITH REACHING OUT TO THE FAMILIES WHO DON'T SPEAK ENGLISH AND LANGUAGE LINE IS SO HANDY AND MANY OF OUR TEACHERS KNOW HOW TO USE IT.

ARE TEACHERS BEING ENCOURAGED? BECAUSE I KNOW I'VE HEARD WE'VE GOTTEN NICE LETTERS FROM FAMILIES SAYING THE TEACHERS HAVE REACHED OUT AND SAY CAN YOU NOT HEAR ME? I KNOW I HAVE UNSTABLE INTERNET.

I'M SORRY. THAT'S MY QUESTION.

YOU HEAR MY QUESTION? I THINK PRETTY MUCH WHAT YOUR QUESTION WAS AROUND OUR FAMILIES WHO HAVE A LANGUAGE BARRIER AND MAY NOT SPEAK ENGLISH.

AND HOW ARE WE ENSURING THAT THEY'RE GETTING THE INFORMATION, IS WHAT I'M AM SO I CAN HEAR THE REST. BUT I KNOW IT'S MORE IT'S MORE ABOUT.

YES, BUT WILL WILL WE ENCOURAGE TEACHERS TO USE LANGUAGE LINE IF THEY WANT TO COMMUNICATE WITH PARENTS? GOT IT. YES. SO ACTUALLY TODAY ON THE VIDEO Q&A, AS WELL AS IN THE FAQ FOR STAFF, THE STAFF VIDEO TODAY WAS AROUND THE LANGUAGE LINE BECAUSE OF A STAFF MEMBERS.

WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THEY UNDERSTAND AT THE LANGUAGE LINE IS OPEN AND AVAILABLE NOW.

THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT TIME TO USE IT.

ALSO, I WANTED KURT, TO CHIME IN ABOUT THERE IS A NEW WAY FOR FAMILIES WHO SPEAK EITHER AMHARIC, ARABIC OR SPANISH TO GET INFORMATION IN THEIR LANGUAGES VIA TEXTS.

AND KURT.

WOULD YOU TALK TO THAT? I KNOW THERE WAS SOMETHING YOU SHARED WITH ME RECENTLY.

KURT, YOU'RE ON MUTE. YEAH, LIKE I MENTIONED BEFORE, EVEN WITH THE NUTRITION PLAN, I KNOW FOR THE NUTRITION THERE WILL BE A TEXT HOTLINE, BUT FOR OUR FAMILIES THAT SPEAK DIFFERENT LANGUAGES. WE KNEW THAT THERE WOULD HAVE TO BE AN ADDITIONAL RESOURCE.

SO THAT'S WHY FOR SPANISH, AMHARIC AND ARABIC.

THERE WILL BE HOTLINE NUMBERS MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, OPEN FROM 9:00 TO 5:00 FOR SPANISH EVERY DAY FROM 9 TO 1 FOR AMHARIC QUESTIONS AND EVERY HOUR TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY, FOR ARABIC, 9 TO 3:30.

BUT THAT DOESN'T, YOU KNOW, ALSO THAT COMBINED WITH THE LANGUAGE LINE, YOU KNOW, AND TEACHERS AND EVERYBODY HELPING OUT.

BUT THOSE ARE SOME CONSISTENT HOTLINE NUMBERS THAT WILL BE DISTRIBUTED TODAY FOR THOSE DIFFERENT LANGUAGE BARRIERS THAT MAY COME UP THE FAMILIES.

OK. IS THAT HAVE WE RESOLVED THAT QUESTION? YES. MS. LORBER.

OK. ALL RIGHT.

NEXT UP, I HAVE MR. SUAREZ. ALL RIGHT.

THANKS. THANKS, CHAIR ANDERSON.

YES, SO MY QUESTION JUST RELATES MORE TO I'M THINKING I'M THINKING ABOUT SORT TWO SCENARIOS. ONE IS THE SORT OF OPTIMISTIC SCENARIO WHERE WE COME BACK ON APRIL 14TH AND WE GET BACK IN SCHOOL AND ALL'S WELL IN THE WORLD, HOPEFULLY, AND THE SITUATION HAS RESOLVED ITSELF. AND THEN I'M THINKING OF THE OTHER SCENARIO, WHICH HOPEFULLY DOESN'T HAPPEN, BUT WHERE WE HAVE TO CONTINUE TO KEEP SCHOOL CLOSED FOR POTENTIALLY LONGER OR EVEN THE REST OF THE SCHOOL YEAR.

BOTH SCENARIOS.

SO THE FIRST SCENARIO MY QUESTION IS ABOUT I UNDERSTAND THERE'S BEEN SOME REPORTING AS WELL ABOUT, YOU KNOW, GETTING POTENTIAL WAIVERS, KNOW IF KIDS AREN'T IN SCHOOL TO MAKE

[00:35:04]

SURE THAT THEY'RE PROMOTED, ADVANCED IN THE NEXT GRADE ISSUES WITH TESTS AND THINGS LIKE THAT. SO I'VE HEARD ABOUT THAT.

AND I'M WONDERING IN THE EVENT WE DO COME BACK RELATIVELY QUICKLY ON APRIL 14TH, YOU KNOW, IS THERE A SCENARIO WHERE WE COULD ENTERTAIN THE POSSIBILITY OF GETTING KIDS BACK, SOME OF THAT INSTRUCTIONAL TIME, YOU KNOW, EXTENDING THE SCHOOL YEAR A WEEK OR TWO, OR HOWEVER LONG WE THINK IS APPROPRIATE BASED ON FUNDS AND BASED ON NEEDS OF STUDENTS TO BE ABLE TO MAKE UP FOR SOME OF THE LEARNING LOSS THAT WE'VE BEEN WE'VE BEEN DISCUSSING.

SO THAT'S SORT OF ONE QUESTION.

AND THEN MY SECOND QUESTION IS I JUST SORT OF MORE GENERALLY ABOUT COUNSELING AND WHAT OUR PLAN IS IN THAT RESPECT, PARTICULARLY IN A SCENARIO WHERE THIS CONTINUES ON LONGER TERMS. YOU KNOW, THERE'S SORT OF TWO ASPECTS OF THE COUNSELING.

ONE IS THE MENTAL HEALTH ASPECT OF IT.

YOU KNOW, THIS IS A VERY UNCERTAIN SITUATION FOR KIDS, ESPECIALLY FOR TEENAGERS.

THEY'RE NOT GETTING THE SOCIAL INTERACTION THAT THEY'RE USED TO GETTING.

THAT MAY BE CHALLENGING FOR SOME OF THEM.

THERE'S ALL KINDS OF KINDS OF ISSUES THAT WE'RE GOING TO WANT TO CHECK IN ON THAT.

AND THEN FROM THE ACADEMIC STANDPOINT, I'M THINKING ABOUT ALL THE KIDS WHO HAD A TRANSITION. RIGHT. SO LIKE THE HIGH SCHOOL KIDS WHO ARE GOING TO COLLEGE, THE EIGHTH GRADERS ARE GOING TO TRANSITION TO D.C., THE FIFTH GRADERS WHO ARE TRANSITIONING TO MIDDLE SCHOOL. ARE WE THINKING, WHAT ARE WE DOING IN TERMS OF THINKING ABOUT HOW WE CAN COLLECTIVELY REACH OUT TO THOSE KIDS, PERHAPS IN ZOOM OR IN THE HOME OR IN SOME WAY SO THAT, YOU KNOW, THEY'RE NOT GOING TO BE SORT OF SURPRISED WHEN MAYBE THEY START SCHOOL NEXT YEAR OR GO BACK TO SCHOOL LATER IN THE YEAR AND NEED SOME OF THOSE SUPPORTS.

YES. SO.

SO, MR. SUAREZ, AT THIS TIME, WE REALLY DON'T HAVE A REAL FULL QUESTION, A RESPONSE FOR YOU, BECAUSE WE'RE STILL WORKING WITH THE VIRGINIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION ON KIND OF LIKE WHAT SPECIFICALLY THESE WAIVERS ARE GOING TO ENTAIL.

AND WE ARE ALSO WORKING THROUGH WHAT ARE THE OPTIONS THAT WILL BE SUFFICIENT IN REGARDS TO A CONTINUATION PLAN OF EDUCATION, BECAUSE THAT REALLY NOW IS CHANGED.

YOU KNOW, MOST CONTINUATION PLANS IN THE PAST WERE DEVELOPED FOR LIKE SNOW DAYS.

RIGHT. SO NOW WE'RE WE'RE GOING TO BE LOOKING AT WEEKS VERSUS, YOU KNOW, A COUPLE OF DAYS. AND THERE ARE A LOT OF UNFORTUNATELY WITH A LOT OF THE POLICIES THAT HAVE ALREADY BEEN SET. THIS HAS NEVER BEEN PUT INTO CONSIDERATION WHEN DEVELOPING THOSE POLICIES.

SO IT'S GOING TO REQUIRE CHANGING POLICY, CHANGING FEDERAL GUIDELINES, CHANGING STATE GUIDELINES, CHANGING LOCAL GUIDELINES IN ORDER TO MAKE ANY OF THESE RESPONSES WORK.

SO I THINK THAT WE ARE MEETING WITH THE STATE SUPERINTENDENT ON A WEEKLY BASIS.

SO I HAD MY MEETING TODAY AT 3:30 WITH THE STATE SUPERINTENDENT ALL SUPERINTENDENTS IN THE COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA.

AND HE PROVIDES US WITH UPDATES ON THAT.

AND THAT IS ALWAYS OUR QUESTION EVERY WEEK.

SO WHAT DO WE DO IF SCHOOLS REMAIN CLOSED THROUGH THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR? HOW DO WE GET THAT TIME BACK? YOU KNOW, IN REGARDS TO INSTRUCTIONAL TIME FOR OUR STUDENTS AND THEN WHAT DOES THAT LOOK LIKE? ARE WE GOING TO HAVE WAIVERS TO START SCHOOL IN JULY, YOU KNOW, VERSUS SEPTEMBER OR AUGUST? SO, YOU KNOW. SO THOSE ARE SOME OF THE THINGS THAT WE'RE STILL TALKING TALKING THROUGH IN REGARDS TO THE COUNSELING SERVICES.

AND I THINK DR. CRAWFORD, SHE'LL BE ABLE TO CHIME IN ON THIS ONE.

YOU KNOW, WE ARE VERY, I THINK, ATTUNED TO THE FACT THAT MANY OF OUR STUDENTS, AS WELL AS OUR STAFF AND FAMILIES ARE EXPERIENCING SOME ANXIETY.

AND THIS IS A TRIGGER FOR A LOT OF EVEN MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES THAT PEOPLE MAY NOT HAVE HAD PRIOR TO THIS.

SO NOT STUDENTS THAT WE MAY HAVE KNOWN WITH SOME OF THESE CHALLENGES, BUT NOW NEW STUDENTS AND OUR SSTS ARE WORKING THROUGH THAT.

BUT IF DR. CRAWFORD COULD EXPAND A LITTLE MORE ON THE COUNSELING PIECE, THAT WE GREATLY APPRECIATE IT. WOULD LOVE TO.

THANK YOU. WE ARE CONTINUING ACADEMIC ADVISEMENT FOR OUR STUDENTS IN GRADES SIX TO TWELVE. IN PARTICULAR, WE ARE USING ZOOM FOR SOME SMALL GROUP WORK WITH THE STUDENTS.

WE HAVE COUNSELORS AND I'LL TALK SPECIFICALLY ABOUT COUNSELORS, BUT THIS IS TRUE FOR ALL SST FOR SOCIAL WORK, OUR PSYCH'S AND OUR NURSES WHERE WE KNOW WE HAVE STUDENTS WITH HEALTH CONDITIONS. BUT THERE'S A STRUCTURED PROCESS IN PLACE THAT TC AND THE MIDDLE SCHOOLS HAVE SET UP TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE ADDRESSING THOSE POPULATIONS THAT YOU SAID, EVEN THOUGH THINGS ARE NOT FACE TO FACE RIGHT NOW, THE ACADEMIC ADVISEMENT PERIOD IS IN FULL SWING AND A GO AND TALKING TO PARENTS AND TO STUDENTS ARE UTILIZING ALL THE TECHNOLOGY SUPPORTS THAT WE HAVE OUT OF DR.

HOOVER'S OFFICE. AND THEY'VE BEEN FABULOUS.

I CAN TELL YOU THAT TEACHERS ARE AS WELL AS SST ARE REACHING OUT TO STUDENTS REGULARLY.

[00:40:02]

SO I'D BE HAPPY TO GIVE YOU MORE INFORMATION ON EVERYBODY'S OUT OF OFFICE EMAIL.

YOU SEE WHETHER IT'S A DIRECTOR OF COUNSELING LIKE MELISSA THE COUNSELORS. THEY'VE GOT EXPLICIT INFORMATION ABOUT AVAILABILITY, HOW THEY CAN BE REACHED AND EMERGENCY MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORTS.

IF ANYONE IS IN IMMEDIATE CRISIS, WHAT YOU SHOULD DO.

BUT ALSO WAYS THAT YOU CAN FOLLOW UP.

WE SEPARATELY HAVE A VOICE MAIL AND AN EMAIL JUST GENERIC TO STUDENT SERVICES TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS. IT'S CHECKED ALMOST HOURLY, THE VOICEMAIL AND THEN THE EMAIL GOES TO A NUMBER OF US. SO JUST REACHING OUT TO FAMILIES TO PROVIDE ASSURANCES.

BUT THE ACADEMIC ADVISEMENT PERIOD IS CONTINUING.

AND IT'S REALLY IT'S I'M REALLY PROUD OF THE WORK THAT THE COUNSELORS ARE DOING AND KEEPING THAT MOVING FORWARD AND TRYING TO ADDRESS THE STUDENT ANXIETY.

I MEAN, IMAGINE BEING A SENIOR AT THIS TIME OR JUNIOR AND YOUR SATS WERE JUST CANCELLED YOU'VE GOT SOME OF US ARE DEALING WITH THAT AND YOU'VE GOT KIDS AT HOME IN LIMBO.

SO NOT ONLY SOCIALLY ISOLATED, BUT ALSO YOU'VE GOT THIS ANXIETY OF NOT KNOWING WHAT THE NEXT STEP OF YOUR FUTURE IS.

AND THE COUNSELORS ARE REALLY THERE ON IT AND WANT TO SEND THAT MESSAGE TO OUR FAMILIES AS WELL, THAT, YOU KNOW, WE HAVE THE RESOURCES TO THE STUDENTS, BUT WE'RE THERE FOR THE FAMILY QUESTIONS, TOO, BECAUSE EVERYBODY'S IN LIMBO RIGHT NOW.

AND IT'S REALLY SCARY FOR THE KIDS WHO THINK THAT THEY THOUGHT THAT THEY HAD INFORMATION COMING SHORTLY. I HOPE THAT'S HELPFUL.

OK. NEXT UP, I HAVE DR.

REEF. ALL RIGHT.

THANK YOU, EVERYONE.

THANK YOU, DR. HUTCHINGS AND YOUR TEAM FOR ALL THE HARD WORK YOU'RE DOING.

I THINK IT'S EVERYTHING'S BEEN.

IT SEEMS LIKE IT'S GOING REALLY WELL UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES.

I WILL SAY THAT OUR ZOOM SESSION HERE IS A LOT MORE ORDERLY THAN MY THIRD GRADER ZOOM SESSION WAS WITH HER TEACHER YESTERDAY.

AND TODAY.

I WILL SAY THAT I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH INSTRUCTION THEY ACCOMPLISHED, BUT FROM A SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL STANDPOINT, THAT ZOOM SESSION AND SEEING HER TEACHER AND HER FRIENDS REALLY SEEMED TO UPLIFT HER SPIRITS A LOT.

SO THAT WAS GREAT. I WANTED TO FOLLOW UP ON THE FOOD DISTRIBUTION QUESTION.

I JUST WANTED A COUPLE OF CLARIFICATIONS ON THAT.

I KNOW THAT YOU'VE STOPPED THE SIGN UP SYSTEM.

AND SO I WAS JUST WONDERING ABOUT THAT.

YOU'RE GOING TO BE MOVING TO FIVE DIFFERENT SITES TO DISTRIBUTE THE FOOD AND SO I'M KIND OF WONDERING HOW YOU'RE KNOWING HOW MANY MEALS TO PROVIDE AND HOW.

WHAT'S THE EXPECTATION FOR HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE GOING TO SHOW UP AND HOW MANY MEALS YOU'RE DISTRIBUTING? JUST IF YOU COULD TALK A LITTLE BIT MORE ABOUT THAT PROCESS AND.

AND THEN I KNOW I LISTENED TO THE THE WHEN DR.

HUTCHINGS SPOKE WITH CITY COUNCIL ON TUESDAY NIGHT.

AND I KNOW MR. COUNCILMAN AGUIRRE WAS ASKING SOME QUESTIONS AROUND THE SAFETY OF THE FOOD DISTRIBUTION CONCERNS AROUND, YOU KNOW, IF 10 PEOPLE ONLY CAN BE IN A GROUP AT ONE TIME, WHAT HAPPENS WITH A WHOLE BUNCH OF FAMILIES COMING TO LINEUP AT ONE TIME OR OR PEOPLE, YOU KNOW, RATHER THAN DRIVING UP, THEY GET OUT OF CARS AND THINGS LIKE THAT.

SO HOW ARE YOU MANAGING THAT FROM A SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDPOINT, IF YOU COULD TALK ABOUT THOSE TWO THINGS. MS. ANTHONY, CAN YOU PROVIDE AN UPDATE TO THAT? YES. SO FIRST OF ALL, ON THE FIVE SITES, WE'RE HAVING A LITTLE CONTROVERSY AROUND THAT RIGHT NOW. YOU KNOW, CINDY HORMEL HAS DONE AN UNBELIEVABLE JOB TRYING TO MANEUVER ALL OF THIS, ALL OF THESE APPROVALS.

WE REALLY WANTED TO MAKE SURE WE WERE DISTRIBUTING OUR PERSONNEL AND OUR RESOURCES PROPERLY. AND WE HAD TALKED ABOUT JUST FOCUSING ON THE FOUR SITES.

BUT A LOT OF PEOPLE WERE CONCERNED THAT STOPPING TC WAS GOING TO CAUSE SOME ISSUE.

SO I KNOW THAT WHAT WENT OUT WAS THAT WE'RE DOING THE FIVE SITES.

AND I GUESS BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT WE'RE NOW, THAT'S WHAT WE'RE PROBABLY GOING TO HAVE TO DO. BUT THAT ACTUALLY HAD NOT BEEN SOMETHING THAT WE HAD WANTED TO DO UNLESS WE HAD TO BE FLEXIBLE AND TO DO THAT.

WE'RE BASING OUR DISTRIBUTION NUMBERS ON THE DATA THAT WE HAVE WITH REGARD TO THE FAMILIES. THE SIGNUP PROCESS, WHILE IT WAS OK FOR SOME PEOPLE, IT WASN'T WORKING FOR OTHERS. AND WE FOUND THAT IT WAS VERY IMPORTANT TO MAKE SURE THAT OUR HOTLINE AND OUR ELECTRONIC MEDIA WAS BEING USED FOR ANSWERING QUESTIONS AND FOR ARRANGING FOR SPECIAL DELIVERY FOR THOSE PEOPLE WHO NEEDED IT.

AND TO.

YOU KNOW, NOT SAY YOU COME TO GET YOU GET TO PICK UP AT THIS PLACE AT THIS TIME BECAUSE YOU SIGNED UP. SO IT'S REALLY A MATTER OF ACCESS.

AND IN TERMS OF THE YOU KNOW, HOW MANY WE'RE FIXING, WE'RE DOING THAT BASED UPON WHAT WE KNOW. OUR POPULATION IS IN THAT AREA FOR FREE AND REDUCED LUNCH.

AND THEN WE'RE PUTTING A PERCENTAGE ON THAT, PLUS OUR OUTREACH INPUT THAT WE'RE GOING TO

[00:45:01]

BE GETTING BACK FROM FACE IS GOING TO BE ABLE TO HELP US.

SO IT'S A LITTLE BIT MORE THAN AN EDUCATED GUESS, BUT IT ISN'T EXACT.

AND IT DOES RESULT IN OUR CONCERN THAT WE MAY HAVE YOU KNOW, ALREADY WE HAVE HAD SOME WASTE BECAUSE WE'VE HAD PEOPLE WHO SIGNED UP AND DID NOT COME AND PICK UP THEIR FOOD.

AND THEN WE'VE HAD DELIVERY ORDERS, WHICH WE'VE GONE TO DELIVER.

AND WE HAVE NOT ALWAYS BEEN ABLE TO MAKE THE CONNECTION.

I'D SAY ABOUT 40 TO 50 PERCENT OF WHAT WE PREPARED IN THIS LAST WEEK, EVEN THOUGH WE HAVE SOME GREAT NUMBERS, HAD TO BE DELIVERED THE NEXT DAY, HAD TO BE RELOOKED AT BY THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT. WE'VE HAD TO RE DELIVER.

SO A LOT OF WHAT YOU'RE SEEING NOW IS OUR ATTEMPT TO HAVE LESSONS LEARNED AND TO TRY TO STREAMLINE THIS OPERATION SO THAT IT'S SUCCESSFUL AND SUSTAINABLE.

THE OTHER ELEMENT OF WHAT YOU'RE NOT SEEING YET IS THAT WE'RE HOPING TO ALSO PROVIDE WHAT WE'RE CALLING MOBILE POP UP LOCATIONS AT DEFINITELY ONE AREA WHICH IS ON THE WEST SIDE, POSSIBLY TWO AREAS.

WE'LL HAVE THE LOGISTICS OF THAT FIGURED OUT THIS AFTERNOON.

AND THAT'S GOING TO HAVE TO BE YOU KNOW, WE KNOW WE HAVE 70 CHILDREN AND RENT PLACE, FOR INSTANCE. AND SO WE'LL PUT SEVENTY FIVE TIMES TWO WITHIN THAT BUS THAT GOES TO THAT LOCATION. AND WE HOPE THAT THOSE PARENTS AND STUDENTS COME DOWN AND, YOU KNOW, AND PICK THOSE UP. THERE'S THIS WHOLE ISSUE.

DR. HUTCHINGS CAN KIND OF CONCUR WITH THIS, THAT DIFFERENT DIVISIONS, I GUESS, WITH THEIR DIFFERENT VIRGINIA STATE HEALTH DEPARTMENT CASEWORKERS HAVE BEEN GIVEN WAIVERS TO PROVIDE FAMILIES WITH MORE THAN ONE MEAL AT A TIME.

AND SOME HAVE BEEN ASKED TO MAKE SURE THAT WE'RE NOT DUPLICATING FOR JUST ANYBODY WHO WALKS UP AND ASKS FOR A MEAL FOR MORE THAN A DAY AT A TIME.

SO THERE'S THAT LOGISTICS THAT WE'RE WORKING THROUGH TOO.

WE NOW HAVE THE PERMISSION TO GIVE OUT TWO TO THREE DAYS AT A TIME, WHICH IS WHY WE'RE DOING THIS MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, FRIDAY THING VERSUS THE FIVE DAY MEAL PACK, WHICH WAS WHAT WHAT THE INITIAL SIGNUP WAS FOR WAS FOR ONE DAY OR FIVE DAYS.

SO THEIR COMBINATION OF ELEMENTS.

AND I HOPE THAT THAT'S HELPFUL IN TERMS OF THE SAFETY.

WE DID HEAR THAT THERE WERE SOME QUESTIONS ABOUT THE THE GEAR AND THE SAFETY EQUIPMENT AND THE THE, YOU KNOW, WHAT'S BEEN HAPPENING.

YOU KNOW, WE'VE PRETTY MUCH SOLIDIFIED THAT PEOPLE WHO ARE FIXING THE FOODS ARE IN THE PROPER ATTIRE.

SOMEONE MAY HAVE SEEN SOMEBODY IN THE TURNSTILE THAT IN BETWEEN THE THE DELIVERY AND THE PREPARATION, THAT DIDN'T LOOK LIKE THEY HAD ON SOMETHING.

BUT WE'RE HAVING A HEALTH DEPARTMENT.

CITY IS WORKING WITH THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT THIS AFTERNOON TO FIND OUT WHERE THOSE COMPLAINTS AND CONCERNS CAME FROM AND TO GET THEM TO MAKE SURE THAT, YOU KNOW, PEOPLE ARE GETTING THE RIGHT INFORMATION IN TERMS OF NUMBERS OF PEOPLE THAT AT TIME.

IF YOU'VE GONE UP TO TC TO SEE HOW THAT OPERATION WHERE IT FLOWS PRETTY WELL, WHERE WHERE WE'RE TRYING TO MAKE SURE THAT GROUPS IF THERE'S, YOU KNOW, GROUPS OF DIFFERENT ACTIVITY HAPPENING, THAT THEY'RE SEPARATED AND MANAGING IT AS BEST AS POSSIBLE WITH BOTH VOLUNTEERS AND OUR SECURITY STAFF.

DR. HUTCHINGS, DID YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO ADD TO THAT? DOES THAT ANSWER YOUR QUESTION? YEAH, I THINK THAT THAT ANSWERS THE QUESTION.

AND I WANTED TO ASK ANOTHER QUESTION ABOUT THE WI-FI ACCESS AT HOME.

I KNOW THAT I THINK I HEARD YOU, DR.

HUTCHINGS, SAY AT THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING ALSO THAT WE PURCHASED SOME NEW AND I WASN'T SURE ABOUT THAT.

I WAS WONDERING IF DR.

HOOVER COULD GIVE AN UPDATE ABOUT, YOU KNOW, IF THERE WERE MORE THE BOARD LIAISON ON THE IT COMMISSION, WHICH HAS BEEN INTERESTED ALL YEAR LONG ABOUT THIS ISSUE OF THE HOMEWORK GAP AND HOW MANY CHILDREN IN OUR COMMUNITY ARE NOT ABLE TO ACCESS THE INTERNET FROM HOME.

AND THERE'S BEEN SOME CHALLENGES TRYING TO GET THAT INFORMATION.

WE'VE DONE SURVEYS IN THE PAST AND NOT SURE FOR REACHING EVERYONE.

AND SO I KNOW UNDERSTAND FROM DR.

HOOVER THAT THIS IS REALLY YOU KNOW, THIS IS REALLY ALLOWING US THROUGH THE TEACHERS TO GET A GOOD READ ON HOW MANY OF OUR CHILDREN DON'T HAVE ACCESS.

BUT I'M WONDERING HOW WE'RE COLLECTING THAT INFORMATION.

SURE. SO WE WE HAVE ORDERED 100 MORE WHAT I WAS WORKING WITH THEM.

I WAS REALLY HOPING THAT WE'VE IDENTIFIED 50 STUDENTS RIGHT NOW AT TC AND THE INTER NATIONAL ACADEMY.

THEY DO NOT HAVE INTERNET ACCESS AND ARE HAVING TROUBLE WITH INTERNET ESSENTIALS.

SO I WAS TRYING TO GET THEM TO DO A DIRECT SHIPMENT.

THEY WILL NOT DO THAT FOR US.

SO WE'RE GONNA HAVE TO FIGURE OUT HOW WE'RE GOING TO DISTRIBUTE THAT.

[00:50:04]

SO THAT IS COMING.

IT'S PROBABLY NOT GOING TO BE FOR A WEEK OR 10 DAYS BEFORE THEY ARRIVE.

I'VE ALSO BEEN VERY CLOSELY CONTACT WITH KEVIN BROADHURST AT COMCAST BECAUSE SOME OF OUR FAMILIES HAVE BEEN HAVING CHALLENGES WITH APPLYING TO INTERNET THEM. THEY'RE BEING UNFORTUNATELY TOLD THEY NEED SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS.

THEY DO NOT NEED SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS.

THEY DO NEED AN I.D.

CARD. IF YOU'RE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THAT, THEY CAN GO TO THE EISENHOWER STORE FRONT, WHICH IS NOT THAT EASY FOR OUR FAMILIES.

BUT THAT'S BEEN ONE OF THE BIGGEST.

WELL, THAT'S ONE OF TWO OF THE CHALLENGES.

AND ACTUALLY, THERE'S A THIRD, IF THEY HAVE ANY UNSETTLED BILL WITHIN THIS PAST 12 MONTHS, THEY DO NOT QUALIFY.

IF THEIR UNSETTLED BILL IS OVER 12 MONTHS.

THEY DO QUALIFY.

SO. SO THAT'S ONE AREA.

THEY ALSO HAVE SOME XFINITI WI-FI HOT SPOTS AROUND THE COUNTRY AND THERE ARE A LOT HERE.

AND SO MY STAFF IS GOING THROUGH RIGHT NOW AND TRYING TO DO A LIST OF THEM.

AND THOSE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FREE FOR ANYONE, EVEN IF YOU DON'T GET A COMCAST SUBSCRIBER.

SO WE'RE WORKING ON GETTING THAT INFORMATION OUT AND THEN TRYING TO THINK OUT OF THE BOX.

IT JUST GOES MORE THAN 30 DAYS TRYING TO LOOK AT MAYBE SOME OTHER CREATIVE CHALLENGES BECAUSE. YOU KNOW, WE'VE BEEN REALLY FOCUSED ON THIS MOSTLY FOR 6-12.

BUT THEN WITH NOW THAT WE'VE OPENED UP 3-5 AND NOW OUR K-2 FAMILIES ARE ASKING FOR COMPUTERS. AND SO IT'S IT'S IT'S SO MUCH BIGGER OF A CHALLENGE THAN IT WAS TWO WEEKS AGO.

YEAH. WELL, I APPRECIATE THAT.

AND I KNOW THAT YOU'RE VERY BUSY.

BUT AT SOME POINT WHEN THINGS SETTLE DOWN AND YOU'RE ABLE TO COMPILE THIS INFORMATION, I KNOW I WOULD LOVE TO SEE IT AND I'M SURE FOLKS WOULD LIKE TO SEE IT.

AND YOU KIND OF TOUCHED ON ONE LAST THING.

I WAS CURIOUS ASK.

MAYBE THIS IS MORE FOR DR.

MOZINGO. BUT FOR THE THE LEARNING PACKETS THAT WENT HOME BECAUSE THEY CATERED TO, YOU KNOW, THEY'RE RELYING ON THOSE LEARNING PACKETS.

AND I'M JUST WONDERING, YOU KNOW, IF YOU'RE IF YOU'RE HAVING OTHER THOUGHTS ABOUT EDUCATIONAL CURRICULUM SUPPORTS FOR THEM, ESPECIALLY WITH REGARDS TO OUR FOCUS REALLY BEING ON THE K-2 LITERACY, LIKE HOW YOU ARE THERE ANY KINDS OF CURRICULUM MATERIALS THAT CAN SOMEHOW BE SENT HOME TO THEM OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT.

SO THEY'RE NOT HAVING THIS LEARNING LOSS PERIOD TAKE PLACE.

THANK YOU FOR ASKING THAT QUESTION LATER TODAY, I WILL HAVE FROM TWO TO THREE A ZOOM WITH MY TEAM, WHICH IS CALLED MY PMOT PLAN MANAGEMENT OVERSIGHT TEAM, AND THAT IS A DISCUSSION FOR TODAY WITH KIM BECAUSE SHE IS STILL LEADING THAT K-2 LITERACY GROUP THAT WE FORMED.

SO THAT'S ONE OF THE QUESTIONS THAT I WANT TO TALK TO KIM ABOUT, THAT WE CAN GET SOME FEEDBACK FROM THE K-2 LITERACY TEAM AND THEN WE'LL BE IN IF THEY IF THEY SUGGEST ANYTHING THAT'S REASONABLE, FEASIBLE.

WE CAN GO INTO THESE DOCUMENTS AND ALWAYS PROVIDE UPDATES.

SO I'M GLAD WE FORM THAT GROUP OF TEACHERS FROM THE VERY SCHOOL TO BE ABLE TO SUPPORT US.

THANK YOU FOR ASKING THAT QUESTION.

YEAH, THAT'S THAT'S TERRIFIC.

I MEAN, GETTING MORE BOOKS TO PEOPLE MIGHT BE SOMETHING, YOU KNOW, EVEN.

BUT THANKS. THANKS FOR ALL THE WAY WE'RE DOING ON THAT.

WE ARE WORKING ON THAT. YOU KNOW, THE PUBLIC LIBRARIES CLOSE.

ONE OF OUR GOALS WAS TO.

ANYWAY. WE'VE GOT A BACK.

WE ALWAYS HAVE A BACKUP PLAN.

BUT WE HAVE ANOTHER PLAN TO BE ABLE TO USE IN THE TELEVISION SERIES TO HAVE TEACHERS READ STORIES, READ ALOUD ON TELEVISION PROGRAM.

RIGHT NOW, WE'RE TRYING TO COLLECT STORIES FROM AUTHORS WHERE THEY'VE RELEASED THOSE BOOKS FOR US TO BE ABLE TO HAVE ACCESS TO.

SO WE HAVE A PLAN THAT'S BEING DEVELOPED FOR TELEVISION PROGRAM THAT WOULD BE TEACHERS READING STORIES TO YOUNG CHILDREN THAT WOULD HELP.

AND THEN I THINK THAT'S ACTUALLY GOING TO BE RATHER CREATIVE.

I THINK THAT I MIGHT READ SOME OF THOSE STORIES AND THEY WILL BE A LOT OF FUN.

SO WE ARE GETTING THAT ORGANIZED FOR LITERACY.

THAT WAS HELPFUL. OK, EVERYBODY, WE'RE ACTUALLY OVER OUR ONE O'CLOCK TIME, I HAVE ONE PERSON WITH THEIR HAND UP, BUT I'M WONDERING IF IT CAN BE IF IF FURTHER QUESTIONS CAN BE SENT THROUGH THE EMAIL TO DR.

HUTCHINGS AND CAN BE ADDRESSED MAYBE TO EVERYBODY.

THAT WAY, BECAUSE I WANT TO BE COGNIZANT OF EVERYBODY HAVING A LOT TO DO RIGHT NOW.

SO WHAT I THINK WHAT I WILL DO IS THEN ASK THE ONLY THING WE HAD LEFT TO DO ACTUALLY IS TO HAVE A MOTION FOR ADJOURNMENT.

MADAM CHAIR, I MOVE IT.

WE ADJOURN. OK.

I THINK THAT WAS I HEARD MS. GREEN, I BELIEVE, SECONDING MS. GENTRY'S MOTION AND NOW SUSAN MS. NIELSEN WILL DO THE ROLL CALL TO FOR THE VOTE FOR IT.

[00:55:05]

OK. CHAIR ANDERSON.

YES. MS. ALDERTON.

MS. LORBER. YES.

MS. NOLAN. YES.

SO WE CAN MOVE TO ADJOURN AT 1:04.
