SO THIS IS REALLY AROUND THE STRATEGIC ALIGNMENT WORK TO BEST PROVIDE SERVICES THAT REALLY PREPARE OUR CHILDREN TO BE SUCCESSFUL WHEN THEY'RE ENTERING INTO KINDERGARTEN AND BEYOND AND ENGAGING OUR FAMILIES AND REALLY THAT EQUITABLE MANNER.
SO THIS EVENING, WE DO HAVE A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT.

AND SO I'M JUST GOING TO HIGHLIGHT A FEW OF THE KEY AREAS THAT WE'VE BEEN FOCUSING ON.
THE FIRST REALLY LOOKING AT SYSTEMS ALIGNMENT AND AS WE'VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT IN THE PAST, HOW CRITICAL IT IS THAT WE'RE ABLE TO SHARE INFORMATION ACROSS THE EARLY CHILDHOOD SECTORS. AND AT THIS POINT, WE HAVE ALL THE PARTNERS SIGNED OFF ON THE DATA SHARING AGREEMENTS.
WE'RE ALSO LOOKING AT POTENTIAL TOOLS THAT WILL ASSIST US BOTH FOR INFORMATION SHARING AMONG THE EARLY CHILDHOOD PROVIDERS, AS WELL AS HAVING PORTALS FOR THE FAMILIES ACROSS THE SYSTEMS. THE NEXT AREA JUST LOOKING AT ACCESS AND THIS IS A MAJOR CHANGE AND WHAT WE THINK IS A REALLY IMPORTANT, YOU KNOW, EXPANSION OF WHAT WE'RE DOING.
SO WE WILL HAVE AN ADDITIONAL 77 PRESCHOOL SLOTS IN THE COMING YEAR.
SO VERY EXCITED ABOUT THAT AND WHAT THAT MEANS FOR THE FUTURE.
THIS IS ALSO IN THE IN THE CATEGORY OF ACCESS.
WE ARE ALSO FOCUSED ON A SINGLE APPLICATION PROCESS, AND THIS IS SOMETHING THAT WE'VE BEEN WORKING ON FOR MANY YEARS AND WE HAVE MADE SORT OF FITS AND STARTS AND ELEMENTS OF THE PROCESS.
UH, RELATED TO THAT ALSO IS HAVING A COORDINATED ENROLLMENT OFFICE.
AND WE TALKED, I THINK TWO MEETINGS AGO THAT WE HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT THE FIRST FLOOR OF THE BELL PEPPER PLAZA AS THE LOCATION, AND THAT WILL BECOME OUR EARLY CHILDHOOD HUB.
SO FAMILIES WILL BE ABLE TO ENROLL FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD ANY EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM IN THAT FACILITY.
WE WILL HAVE STAFF THERE AND ANY EARLY CHILDHOOD PROVIDER WHO WANTS TO COME TO EITHER DO A SIGN UP EFFORT OR TO DO SOME OTHER COORDINATED PROGRAMING THERE. WE WILL ALSO HAVE OUR FAMILY ENGAGEMENT STAFF MEMBER THERE WHO'S WORKING THROUGH KIDS FIRST YEARS.
AND JUST RELATED TO THAT INDIVIDUAL, SHE WILL BE FOCUSED ON CREATING THE FAMILY COUNCIL.

AND SO THAT COUNCIL WILL REALLY BE LEADING THAT EFFORT AND HAVE THE ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST WHO'S WORKING OUT OF KIDS FIRST YEARS HAS REALLY DONE A LOT ALREADY TO BUILD TRUST AND ENGAGE FAMILIES ACROSS THE SYSTEM.I THINK THE LAST HIGHLIGHT THAT I WANT TO TALK ABOUT IS, YOU KNOW, FOCUSED ON PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND REALLY ENGAGING ALL EARLY CHILDHOOD SETTINGS INTO THIS WORK. WE'VE HAD TWO FULL YEARS AND WE HAVE 228 CLASSROOMS THAT ARE PARTICIPATING IN THE V-CUBE FIVE.
SO REALLY LOOKING AT THE QUALITY ACROSS THE SYSTEM IS SIGNIFICANT.
AND 172 PROGRAMS HAVE BEEN IN FOR TWO FULL YEARS.

WE DO HAVE BIORETENTION AREAS AT MULTIPLE PARTS OF THE SITE AS WELL AS THE TURF FIELD ACTS AS A ALSO KIND OF PART OF THE THE STORMWATER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM AS IT SOAKS UP THE WATER AND SLOWS DOWN THAT RUNOFF.
SO REALLY, I WOULD SAY THE WHOLE SITE IS TREATED AND WE HAVE MULTIPLE BIORETENTION AREAS AS WELL TO SLOW DOWN THE SORT OF THE WATER VOLUME. THANK YOU.
I KNOW WE'VE HAD A PARTICULAR ELECTRICAL ISSUES IN THAT PARTICULAR NEIGHBORHOOD.
AS WE ADD IN A FACILITY MUCH LARGER THAN THE ONE ON SITE.
HAVE WE HAD TO DO ANYTHING IN TERMS OF ELECTRICAL WORK TO MAKE SURE THAT GRID, THAT PART OF THE GRID IS FINE? IT'S A OBVIOUSLY IT'S A MUCH LARGER BUILDING AND PROBABLY HAS MUCH GREATER NEEDS.
UM, WE DO HAVE A GENERATOR FOR THE BUILDING, UM, AT WHICH WILL WHICH WILL SERVE THE LIFE SAFETY AND ANY SORT OF, UM, THE, THE KITCHEN FREEZERS AND COOLERS AND THOSE KIND OF THINGS.
SO THAT WILL ALSO ASSIST WITH SOME OF THOSE ISSUES.

AND WE HAD OUR VERY FIRST, WHICH WE'RE CALLING A GUIDING COALITION TEAM, WHICH ARE THE SUPPORT GROUPS THAT REALLY FOCUS ON PROGRAMING OPERATIONS, STUDENT EXPERIENCE AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND WHAT THOSE DECISIONS WILL BE.
SO THEY'RE KIND OF THAT TOP TIER KIND OF CABINET OF LEADING THE WORK.
AND THEN UNDER THEM, THERE ARE MANY SMALLER TEAMS THAT ARE BE SUPPORTING THOSE TOPIC AREAS.
SO THAT IS THE INSTRUCTIONAL UPDATE.

THEY'RE COMING IN THE RIGHT WAY AND MAYBE THAT'S BECAUSE OF THE RESPONSE THEY GET OR.
HELP EASE THAT TRANSITION FOR GROUPS.
FROM WHAT I GET, MOST OF THESE GROUPS WANT TO MAKE SURE THEY'RE NOT JUST ENGAGING.
THEY'RE ENGAGING IN THE RIGHT WAY.

OUR PRE REGISTRATION FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR IS COMPLETE, SO WE ARE ALSO WRAPPING THAT ALL UP FOR OUR REGULAR REGISTRATION TO START ON WEDNESDAY.
SO WE HAD JUST OVER 200 PARTICIPANTS IN THE PRE REGISTRATION PROCESS.
SO THOSE ARE ANY ANY OF OUR FAMILIES THAT THAT ARE THAT QUALIFY FOR ASSISTANCE CAN REGISTER AHEAD OF WHEN WE OPEN IT UP ONLINE. WE HAVE MADE A NUMBER OF IMPROVEMENTS IN THE ONLINE REGISTRATION PROCESS AS WELL.

WE EXPECT TO BE A VERY BUSY MORNING FOR SOME FAMILIES.
AND IN TERMS OF HIRING, I KNOW THAT HAS COME UP.

WE HAVE SOME SOME GOOD INTEREST IN THAT AND SOME ADDITIONAL PART TIME POSITIONS THAT WE WILL BE OPENING UP EARLY IN JULY TO START HIRING FOR OUR OUT-OF-SCHOOL TIME PROGRAM.

WE WERE ABLE TO SEE ALL THE DATA BEHIND BEHIND OUR POLLING.
UM, SO SINCE THEN WE'VE HAD A COUPLE OF MEETINGS, JOINT MEETINGS BETWEEN STAFF TO DISCUSS THESE THREE AREAS WHERE WE'VE IDENTIFIED THE DIRECTION, GUIDANCE AND POLICIES AND MEASUREMENTS AND DEVELOPED SHORT AND LONG TERM WORK PLANS FOR EACH OF THESE.
SO FOR REAL ESTATE, THE DIRECTION IS TO SEEK THE MOST COST EFFECTIVE WAY OF UTILIZING AND MAINTAINING CITY AND SCHOOL FACILITIES, INCLUDING FOR OFFICE, EDUCATIONAL AND RECREATIONAL PURPOSES IN BOTH THE SHORT AND THE LONG TERM.
IN THE SHORT TERM, WE'RE LOOKING TO IDENTIFY UPCOMING MILESTONES FOR FACILITY NEEDS AND LEASE EXPIRATIONS FOR BOTH CITY AND CPS AND ALSO IDENTIFY OFFICE AND WORK PROGRAM NEEDS FOR THE NEXT TEN YEARS.
SO THIS IS BUILDING UPON THE JOINT MASTER PLAN WORK EFFORTS THAT HAVE BEEN UNDERWAY.
BUT ADDING TO THAT, THE OFFICE AND LEASE EXPIRATION LEASE COLLABORATIONS FOR THE LONG TERM BASED ON THE FINDINGS OF THE SHORT TERM, WE WOULD BE LOOKING TO DEVELOP COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS FOR CO-LOCATION AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR EFFICIENCIES AND THEN IMPLEMENTING THOSE RECOMMENDATIONS. ULTIMATELY, WHAT WE WOULD BE LOOKING TO DO IS, AS YOU SEE ON THE MEASUREMENT SIDE, DECREASE IN OVERALL COST OF CITY AND LEASE SPACE AND INCREASE SHARED SPACE IN SQUARE FOOTAGE.

SO THAT IS SOMETHING MORE IMMEDIATE THAT WE'RE ABLE TO DO AND JOINING EFFORTS.
ALSO LOOKING AT VIRTUAL CAREER FAIRS TOGETHER, CAREER FAIRS AT HHS AND COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES.
WE ALSO HAD IN THE MEETING WITH US VISIT ALEXANDRIA STAFF JUST TO HELP US THINK THROUGH MESSAGING TOGETHER AND LEVERAGE SOME OF THE MESSAGING THAT THEY USE IN TERMS OF THE APPROACH TO STORYTELLING ABOUT THE CITY AND BUILDING UPON THE PLACE YOU WANT TO BE.
THE DAY WE HAD THIS MEETING HAPPENED TO BE WHEN CPS AIR PUT OUT A REALLY GREAT VIDEO ABOUT RECRUITMENT AND WE WERE ALL TALKING ABOUT HOW WONDERFUL THAT VIDEO WAS AND PERHAPS BUILDING UPON EFFORTS LIKE THAT TOGETHER, AND ALSO CROSS PROMOTION ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND RADIO AND SOME UPCOMING BUS ADVERTISEMENTS. AND THE LONG TERM IS TO LOOK AT POTENTIAL ALIGNMENT OF COLLECTIVE BARGAINING.

UM, ULTIMATELY, WE'RE LOOKING AT INCREASED NUMBER OF QUALIFIED APPLICANTS FOR CITY AND CPS POSITIONS AND REDUCED COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH RECRUITMENT.
SO THE DIRECTION HERE IS TO INCREASE COLLABORATION ON WORKFORCE OPPORTUNITIES AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND REDUCE BARRIERS TO EMPLOYMENT LEADING TOWARD GREATER LIFELONG ECONOMIC STABILITY.
SO IN THE SHORT TERM, THE DISCUSSIONS WERE AROUND BUILDING YOUTH EMPLOYMENT INTO THE MONTHLY CITY SCHOOL STAFF GROUP DISCUSSION SO THAT WE'RE NOT RECREATING THE WHEEL WITH A WITH A NEW STRAP GROUP.
BUT WE HAVE THOSE PARTNERS ALREADY IN PLACE AND CAN CAN BUILD UPON THOSE DISCUSSIONS THERE, ENSURING THAT THERE'S PLANNING AROUND THE HIGH SCHOOL PROJECT WITH LINKS TO PARTNERSHIPS FOR EXPANDING YOUTH EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES.
AND THIS IS SPECIFICALLY AT THE NEW WHAT WILL BE THE NEW SATELLITE AT MINNIE HOWARD AND ALIGNING WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT WITH INDUSTRY ADVISORY BOARDS AND CAREER PATHWAY PROGRAMS IN THE LONG TERM.
