NEWS AND COMMUNICATIONS TO THE BOARD, WE HAVE THE AND LIP NICK AWARDS FOR SPECIALIZED INSTRUCTION, WERE WE GOING TO HAVE. SO THE ANNE LIPNICK AWARDS ARE AWARDS FOR SPECIALIZED INSTRUCTION THEY ARE AWARDS FIRST FOR INCLUSIVE PRACTICES, AND THEN THIRDLY, UPPER PROFESSIONAL.

THIS YEAR, 4 WAS A VERY DIFFICULT DECISION, BECAUSE I THINK WHEN IT CAME DOWN TO FOR THIS CHAIR, AND FORT DR.

TERRY WARNER. ALL OF THAT SPECIAL EDUCATORS HAD WORKED EXTREMELY HARD.

DURING THESE VERY UNPRECEDENTED TIMES.

WE WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT THEY WILL ALL RECOGNIZE.

FOR DOING THE THINGS THAT HAVE NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE.

GIVEN THE SITUATION OVER THE LAST TWO YEARS, SO ALL OF OUR EDUCATORS WILL RECEIVE A LETTER OF APPRECIATION, FROM SEA ACT LETTING THEM KNOW THAT THEY ARE APPRECIATED, WE KNOW THAT THEY HAVE A TREMENDOUS LEFT, AND OKAY. WHY IS IT THAT WHEN, OUR SCHOOLS WHY IS IT THAT, WE, IN SEVENTH GRADE, RIGHT BEFORE WE WENT INTO LOCKDOWN, AFTER MY FATHER, AFTER I TOLD MY FATHER ABOUT THE THINGS THAT HAD HAPPENED TO ME, WHY IS IT THAT HE WAS, THAT I WAS, THAT HE WAS, ARRESTED FOR TRESPASSING ON SCHOOL GROUNDS? DROPPING ME OFF, AND I WAS DRAGGED FROM THE VEHICLE. BY AN ADMINISTRATOR AT GEORGE WASHINGTON MIDDLE SCHOOL? THE FACT THAT WE NEED TO IMPLEMENT A SYSTEM WHERE WE NEED TO DETER FOAM BRINGING WEAPONS.

PEOPLE ARE LIKE SAYING IT LIKE WE NEED TO STOP THE GANG PROBLEM, IN OUR SCHOOLS.

BUT MAYBE DO THAT BY HAVING SECURELY ACTUALLY BE ABLE TO DO SOMETHING AND HAVE THE SECURITY ACTUALLY REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF WEAPONS IN OUR SCHOOL. BECAUSE A LOT OF TIMES PEOPLE JOIN GANGS FOR PROTECTION.

BECAUSE THE SCHOOL IS PROVIDING AN ADEQUATE PROTECTION.

WE WERE TOLD FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT, WHO WAS SADLY RESIGNING, THAT WE SHOULD INSTEAD OF SHARING VIDEO OR PHOTOS, OF CRIMES TAKING PLACE AT THE SCHOOL, AND THEM OVER TO THE SCHOOL. WHERE, MOST LIKELY I'M GOING TO BE BLOUNT HERE, THEY ARE PROBABLY GOING TO TAKE YOUR PHONE.

FOR AFTER YOU TOOK THE VIDEO OR PHOTO, AND DELETE IT, WHICH IT IS THE PARENT'S PHONE. WHICH IS UNLAWFUL SEARCH AND SEIZURE OF THE PARENTS PHONE.

BECAUSE THIS STUDENT MOST LIKELY DID NOT PURCHASE THAT PHONE 6 IT WAS THE PARENT. ALSO, YOU ARE EFFECTIVELY PREVENTING MY FATHER FROM BEING HERE, EVEN THOUGH IT IS IN FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHT TO BE HERE AND SPEAK IN A PUBLIC FORUM AND YOU CANNOT PUNISH HIM FOR ANYTHING HE SAYS.

HE IS ALLOWED TO SAY ANYTHING HE LIKES IN THE PUBLIC FORM AS LONG AS IT DID NOT FALL UNDER A FEW SELECT CATEGORIES OF NONPROTECTED SPEECH.

WHY IS IT THAT STUDENTS WHY IS IT THAT YOU WILL GOING AFTER A PARENT WHO IS RIGHTFULLY UPSET ABOUT THE THINGS THAT ARE HAPPENING TO HIS STUDENT, AND FOR EVERY LET'S BE HONEST ONE STUDENT THAT COMES OUT AND TELLS YOU ABOUT THINGS, THERE WAS PROBABLY TEN SILENT ONES.

I AM HERE TO SPEAK UP ABOUT MY FUTURE EDUCATION.

REGARDING THE TV MEDIA PRODUCTION PROGRAM, IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION, THAT IT IS A VERY REAL AND ALMOST DEFINITE CHANCE THAT NEXT YEAR NONE OF THE TV PEOPLE WILL BE ABLE TO USE THE STUDIO, WHERE WE RECORD ALL OF OUR PROJECTS.

AND, WE EXPERIMENT WITH THE BLUE SCREEN AND MAKE ART LIKE DAILY SHOW. AND THAT WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE TO ANY OF THE TV STUDENTS. NEXT YEAR.

WE HAVE SOMETHING THAT COLLEGES ARE NOT AS FORTUNATE TO HAS.

MANY COLLEGES DO NOT HAVE A 7 STUDIO, AS NICE AS OURS, AND AS FULLY WILL NOT SO FULLY FUNCTIONING, AS OURS, AND SOMETIMES WHEN YOU TRY AND ATTEMPT TO DO THESE PROJECTS, WE HAVE THE FACILITY, WE JUST DON'T HAVE THE EQUIPMENT THERE TO MAKE IT AND KEEP IT RUNNING.

AND ANY TIME THAT WE TRY AND FIX ANY OF THE PROBLEMS SUCH AS LIKE A PROMPTER NOT WORKING, OR A CAMERA THAT IS NOT SHOWING UP ON THE SCREEN, WE ARE WASTING VALUABLE PRODUCTION TIME WHICH WE ARE TAUGHT THAT TIME IS MONEY.

WE TO TV STUDENTS TAKE OUR TIME VERY SERIOUSLY.

AFTER ALL, WE ARE TAUGHT THAT TIME IS MONEY.

A FEW OF MY CLASSMATES AND I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET ON HANDS-ON LEARNING, I ALSO REMEMBER HELPING OUT DURING THE STATE OF THE SCHOOL BOARD MEETING, MIGHT WORK WAS ACTUALLY BROADCASTED IN FRONT OF EVERYBODY WATCHING CHANNEL 72.

WHICH IS NOT YOU KNOW, THAT BIG BUT, IT STILL FEELS NICE TO HAVE MY WORK PUT UP ON THE SCREEN, AND I HOPE WE CAN KEEP DOING AT AN BROADCASTING THAT, MAKE SURE THAT THE FUTURE TV STUDENTS ALSO GET THE SAME EXPERIENCE THAT I HAVE.

AND I WANT TO BE ABLE TO SHOW COLLEGES MY POTENTIAL.

I AM GOING INTO SENIOR YEAR END I WANT TO BE ABLE TO PLAY A COLLEGES AND TELL THEM MY THINGS WERE PUT ON MY BROWSING PROGRAM, I WANT TO BE ABLE TO TELL THEM THAT I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON THESE PROJECTS, THAT ARE QUITE IMPRESSIVE, AND IT IS NOT EASY TO DO THAT, WHEN A WET LIGHTING SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING, WE HAVE HAD TIMES WHERE WE HAVE TO GRAB THE LED LIGHTS, WHICH ARE NOT AS STRONG ENOUGH 8 TO DO USING THE STUDIO, AND WE HAVE THIS WHOLE OVERHEAD LIGHTING SYSTEM, YET, IT IS NOT WORKING, AND SO IT IS A LITTLE HARD TO GET OUR PROJECTS DONE.

TV MEDIA PRODUCTION IS A CERTIFIED TECHNICAL EDUCATION FOR A COURSE OR CDE BECAUSE CTE COURSES ARE PUT IN PLACE TO EDUCATE AND PREPARE FOR ACTUAL. STUFF.

THIS CTE COURSE FOR THOSE WHO ASPIRE TO BE FILMMAKERS

>> A GOOD EVENING LADIES AND GENTLEMEN OF THE SCHOOL BOARD AND ATTENDANCE. I ALONG WITH MANY OF MY PEERS AT A CHS, TV MEDIA PRODUCTION CLASS, HAVE WATCHED IN DISAPPOINTMENT AS A C.P.S. HAS A LOT OF HER TV PRODUCTION STUDIO TO FALL INTO DISARRAY. WITH DISAPPOINTMENT IS FURTHER COMPOUNDED BY THE FACT THAT THE STUDIO FALLS UNDER THE PURVIEW OF CENTRAL OFFICE. UNTIL RECENTLY, THEY HAVE EMPLOYED SOMEONE WHO HIS RESPONSIBILITIES HAVE INCLUDED HELPING TO MAINTAIN THE STUDIO. HOWEVER RECENTLY WE HAVE SCALED BACK THE SCOPE OF THIS POSITION. AS A RESULT, THE JOB OF MAINTAINING THE STUDIO IS FALLEN ON TV MEDIA PRODUCTION TEACHERS.

THIS IS NOT SUSTAINABLE, ONLY BECAUSE IT IS NOT THEIR JOB.

BUT 9 BECAUSE BOTH ALREADY SO MUCH SKEWS ME SO MUCH EXTRA WORK FOR OUR PROGRAM. NOT INCLUDING THE FULL CLASSES THAT THEY ALSO HAVE ON THE PLATE. THE CARE THEY HAVE PUT IN THESE PROGRAMS, EVIDENT THAT THE FACT THAT MRS. EPHRON, DELETING OF THE TV MEDIA PRODUCTION PROGRAM WHAT TEACHER OF THE YEAR FOR THE ENTIRE STUDENT LAST SUMMER. AS A RESULT, OVER THE LACK OF ATTENTION THE STUDIO RECEIVES IT IS FALLEN AND HAS BEEN PLAGUED WITH ISSUES, TIMES COMPLETELY UNUSABLE.

THIS STUDIO IS NECESSARY FOR A VARIETY OF REASONS.

FIRST DIVISION OF EQUITY FOR ALL, IT IS GIVEN STUDENTS OF ALL BACKGROUNDS THE SAME OPPORTUNITIES TO SUCCEED. HAVING ACCESS TO WORKING EQUIPMENT IS THE ONLY WAY TO ENSURE, THAT EVERY STUDENT GETS THE SAME OPPORTUNITIES, TO GET KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE.

AND SECONDLY, LIKE ALL ALEXANDRIA CITY HIGH SCHOOL CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION'S OR CTE PROGRAMS, CTV MEDIA PRODUCTION IS NOT ALLOWED TO GIVE STUDENTS THE SKILLS TO GET AN ENTRY-LEVEL JOB IN THE FIELD OF STUDY OR PURSUE HIGHER EDUCATION. WITHOUT ACCESS TO THE STUDIO STUDENTS CAN'T SAY TO THE SAME EXTENT THAT THEY ARE QUALIFIED TO ENTER EDGEFIELD QUESTION INDUSTRY.

THIRD OF ALL, WITHOUT ACCESS TO THE STUDIO PRODUCTION OF A DAILY SCHOOL SHOW, WHICH IS BEEN RUNNING FOR APPROXIMATELY 15 YEARS WITH THE ACCEPTED WILL RESCALE BACK TO A BIWEEKLY SHOW.

DOES NOT SEEM TO BE POSSIBLE. 10 THE SHOW HAS BEEN AN AVENUE FOR LEARNING INFORMATION ABOUT CLUB ACTIVITIES AND OTHER EVENTS.

IT IS ALSO BEEN AN AVENUE FOR TV PRODUCTION TO SHOW THAT WORK TO THEIR COMMUNITY.

SOME STUDENTS EVEN TAKING THE INITIATIVE ON RUNNING WEEKLY OR EVERY OTHER WEEK RECURRING SEGMENTS IN ORDER TO SHOWCASE THE TALENT THAT THEY HAVE. AND THIS ALLOWS HIM TO EXPAND

THEIR KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS, AND THE VIDEO PRODUCTION FIELD.

ALLOWING OUR STUDIO TO ACCESS AND PREVENTING US FROM DOING OUR DAILY SHOW. AND WE MIGHT HAVE TO SCALE BACK THE FREQUENCY OF OUR SHOW, TO A SHOW PROGRAM.

THIS IS WHY THAT SOME OF THE MANY REASONS IT IS SO INCREDIBLY IMPORTANT, TO A CHS, AND TO THE TV PREVENTION PROGRAM TO HAVE A STUDIO THAT IS FUNCTIONING AND WHAT YOU WAS A SCHOOL BOARD NEED TO TAKE STEPS AT THE PROPER RESOURCES ARE ALLOCATED TO HELP MAINTAIN IT THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

IN YOUR CONTINUING EFFORTS TO KEEP OUR KIDS SAFE.

TONIGHT I URGE A 11 C.P.S. TO PROVIDE INFORMATION ON SAFE GUN STORAGE, DIRECTLY TO FAMILIES AT THE START OF EACH SCHOOL YEAR, AND A WIDELY ACCESSIBLE MULTILINGUAL FORMAT, AS WELL AS TO GUN VIOLENCE AND PREVENTION INFORMATION AND RESOURCES TO THE A C.P.S.

WEBSITE. FOR YEARS, THE NATIONAL PTA HAS ADVOCATED FOR SENSIBLE GUN SAFETY AND VIOLENCE PREVENTION POLICIES THAT WILL HELP KEEP OUR KIDS SAY.

JUST YESTERDAY I PARTICIPATED IN THE 2022 NATIONAL PTA CAPITOL HILL DAY VISIT WERE PTA MEMBERS FROM ACROSS THE COUNTRY URGE MEMBERS OF CONGRESS TO SUPPORT PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND THEIR EFFORTS TO CREATE SAFE AND WELCOMING SPACES FOR EVERY CHILD.

AT THE TOP OF OUR LIST, THE PASSAGE OF LEGISLATION TO ENCOURAGE GUN SAFETY EDUCATION, AND THE SAFE STORAGE OF FIREARMS. INCLUDING SAFETY LOGS AND OTHER DEVICES TO PREVENT CHILDREN FROM OBTAINING AND DISCHARGING OF A GUN.

WHILE A TENTATIVE AGREEMENT HAS BEEN MADE ON LEGISLATION, TO BEAR NEW GUN RESTRICTIONS WITH MENTAL HEALTH AND SECURITY INVESTMENTS AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL.

WE CAN TAKE ACTION NOW AT THE LOCAL LEVEL TO SHIELD CHILDREN FROM GUN VIOLENCE, AND THE DEVASTATING EFFECTS IT CAN HAVE ON THE MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH TO ADULTHOOD.

SECURE STORAGE PRACTICES, LIKE THOSE THAT COULD BE SHARED WITH A C.P.S.

FAMILIES PLAY A VITAL ROLE IN REDUCING THE RISK OF NONVIOLENCE.

SAFE STORAGE SAVES LIVES.

AND AS WE ALL KNOW VIOLENCE, ESPECIALLY BY FIREARM NOT ONLY HARMS CHILDREN AND FAMILIES, 12 BUT ALSO ENTIRE SCHOOL COMMUNITIES.

OUR GOAL IS PTA MEMBERS IS ALWAYS TO PROMOTE THE SAFETY AND WELL-BEING OF ALL CHILDREN, AND ENSURE THAT EVERY CHILD HAS THE OPPORTUNITY TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL.

WE BELIEVE PROVIDING INFORMATION LIKE THIS, FALLS PERFECTLY IN LINE WITH THAT MISSION, AND WE URGE YOU TO BEGIN SHARING IT WITH BACK-TO-SCHOOL PACKETS IN THE FALL.

I HAVE NOW COMPLETED MY JUNIOR YEAR END AM APPROACHING SENIOR AND REFLECTING BACK MY FELLOW CLASSMATES AND I ARE EXTREMELY THANKFUL TO BE ABLE TO TO CONNECT WITH OUR PEERS IN PERSON SHIP AND BE BACK IN THE BUILDING FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2020. AS SYLVIA SAID SHE IS PART OF THE FIRST CLASS TO GRADUATE ON THE NEW HIGH SCHOOL NAME WHICH ADDS TO 24 THE FIRST THAT WE ARE EXPERIENCING THIS YEAR.

THE ADAPTATIONS THAT WE HAD TO GO THROUGH ANY SIMPLE COURAGE.

I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO ACKNOWLEDGE DR.

HUTCHINGS EVEN THOUGH HE'S NOT HERE IN THE FINAL MEETING OF THE 2022-23 SCHOOL YEAR. I HAVE KNOWN YOU FOR MANY YEARS, FIRST SINCE IT BECAME THE SUPERINTENDENT, AND IT HAS BEEN AN HONOR TO HAVE KNOWN AND WORKED WITH HIM. I HAD THE HONOR OF ATTENDING THE FIRST LAB FOR STUDENT LAW ENFORCEMENT PARTNERS GROUP THIS GROUP AS A MEMBER. AND LET ME JUST SAY I AM VERY OPTIMISTIC WITH THE PEOPLE OF THIS GROUP.

AND THEY ARE DEFINITELY THE BEST PEOPLE FOR THE JOB.

I AS WELL AS THE REST OF THE COMMUNITY ARE HOPEFUL FOR THE FUTURE OF A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING WITH THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND LOOK FORWARD TO THE BOARD IN A GROUP CAN ACCOMPLISH.

THIS IS BEEN A SIGNIFICANT YEAR FOR ME AND THE WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITIES I HAVE BEEN GRANTED THIS POSITION CLEARLY AT STUART, I CANNOT WAIT TO DO IT AGAIN NEXT YEAR THANK YOU.

AND THAT'S HOW WE ENDED UP WITH THREE. ZARA IS ACTUALLY GOING TO PILOTS A NEW POSITION. AND THIS POSITION IS GOING TO BE A INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY STUDENT LIAISON TO THE SCHOOL BOARD.

WE RECOGNIZE THAT THAT IS A VOICE THAT IS EXTREMELY UNIQUE, AND IT IS REALLY IMPORTANT WE TALKED ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF BRIDGING THE GAP.

OR BUILDING THE BRIDGE, BETWEEN THE INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY, AND THE REST OF TDC WILLIAMS ISAAC.

AND WE REALLY FELT LIKE SHE WAS THE PERSON, IF WE ARE GOING TO DESIGN THIS POSITION, YOU SIT DOWN WITH HER SHE IS GOING TO HAVE A PATHWAY FOR US.

AND I JUST WANT TO SAY THANK YOU TO MR. BALLIS AND THE WHOLE TEAM EVERYONE THAT HAD A PART OR PLAYED A PART IN THE GRADUATION OF OUR 2022 ALEXANDER CITY HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES.

GET GREAT COVERAGE, FAMILIES WERE SO PROUD AND THE KIDS WERE SO VERY EXCITED.

IT MAKES THIS WORK ALL WORTHWHILE.

WHEN YOU GET TO GRADUATION DAY.

AND I TELL EVERYONE EVERY YEAR, TWO THINGS I WOULD NOT EVER MISS, AS A SCHOOL MENTOR IS GRADUATION IN JUNE AND ONE FOR THE SUMMER SCHOOL GRADUATES, IT PUTS IT ALL INTO FOCUS OF WHAT WE DO SO THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO PLAYED A PART IN IT. AND CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2022 ALEXANDRIA FIRST ALEXANDRIA CITY HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATES.

>> YOU ACTUALLY REMINDED ME THAT I MISSED A FEW POINTS ABOUT THEM. SO OF THE 809 GRADUATES WE GOT 43% WHO'D EARNED EVENTS ANY DIPLOMAS THAT IS THAT HIGH IS% OF THOSE STUDENTS WHO EARN THAT THAT'S EXCITING.

AT THIS TIME WE HAVE 562 WHO WILL BE GOING TO COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY, 22 WHO HAVE COMMITTED TO SERVE IN THE MILITARY.

THIRTY ARE PLAYING IN GAP YEARS AND 15 WHO HAVE PLANS TO ENROLL IN TRADE SCHOOL.

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST.

MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS WERE AWARDED TO 2022 TITAN GRADUATES THE TOTAL 1 MILLION $734,500.

AND 80 OBVIOUSLY THE SCHOLARSHIP OF ALEXANDRIA AWARDED 600,000 TO 205 OF OUR GRADUATES.

SO NICE STUFF.

WE HAVE HAD SOME CHALLENGES THIS YEAR. AS A SCHOOL BOARD, AND AS A COMMUNITY.

AND ALTHOUGH THIS IS THE LAST OFFICIAL MEETING FOR THE SUMMER, THE WORK IS NOT AN. WE HAVE A LOT OF WORK TO DO, SO I IMPLORE AND ENCOURAGE NOT ONLY THE COMMUNITY, BUT ALSO THE BOARD, TO TAKE A BREATH, OVER THE SUMMER.

AND KIND OF GET TOGETHER AND UNDERSTAND WHY WE ARE HERE.
