SO MOVING FURTHER ALONG, WE NEED TO €" WE ARE STARTING WITH THE COVID-19 UPDATE. [I. COVID- 19 Update] >> MR. JINKS: I'LL GO AHEAD AND START FOR THE CITY SIDE. THE STATISTICS ALL CONTINUE TO IMPROVE. SO WE ARE AT A LOW LEVEL OF TRANSMISSION THE WAY THE HEALTH PEOPLE MEASURE IT. OUR AVERAGE CASES ARE ROLLING AT TWO CASES FOR THE LAST SEVEN DAYS. WE WERE 17, 18, 20 TIMES THAT LAST YEAR. PEOPLE WERE TESTING POSITIVE NOW IS 1.1 PERCENT SO THAT IS VERY LOW. HOSPITALIZATIONS HAVE DROPPED. THEY ARE DOWN, PROBABLY, 92 TO 95 PERCENT FROM WHERE THEY WERE. EVEN THIS PAST SPRING. SO THE NUMBERS ARE ALL GOOD. DOESN'T MEAN WE ARE OUT OF THE WOODS? NUMBER WE STILL HAVE PEOPLE TO VACCINATE. AND THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT CONTINUES TO DO THAT. AND CONTACT TRACING STILL GOES ON. AND PEOPLE WHO HAVEN'T GOTTEN VACCINATED ARE STILL AT RISK. DOCTOR GADDY IS HERE. YOU WANT TO ADD ANYTHING? >> SURE! AND I THINK AFTER YOU RETIRE, I THINK WE WILL RECRUIT YOU TO COME WORK AT THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT! IT SEEMS LIKE YOU HAVE A HANDLE ON EVERYTHING. AND WHAT WE WILL ADD TO THE STATISTICS ARE I GUESS A LITTLE MORE INFORMATION ABOUT VACCINATIONS. OVERALL, OUR ADULT VACCINATION RATE IS ABOUT 67 PERCENT OF THE POPULATION. THAT'S FOR OVER 18. AND IT'S LIKELY EVEN HIGHER THAN THAT, BECAUSE WE STILL DON'T HAVE THE PEOPLE WHO WERE VACCINATED IN MARYLAND OR DC OR BY THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT. BUT I THINK WE FEEL PRETTY COMFORTABLE SAYING THAT WE ARE IN THE 70 PERCENT IT IF WE WERE ABLE TO ADD THAT DATA AND. I THINK WHAT THIS GROUP MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN IS THE VACCINATION RATE IN THE 12 TO 19-YEAR-OLDS. THAT CURRENTLY IS 57.6 PERCENT OF THOSE FOLKS HAVE AT LEAST ONE DOSE. THAT'S ACTUALLY HI, IF WE LOOK AT THE REST OF THE STATE. THE STATE AVERAGE IS ONLY AROUND 38 PERCENT. LUCKILY FOR US, THE OTHER NORTHERN VIRGINIA DISTRICTS ALSO HAVE A FAIRLY HIGH VACCINATION RATE IN THAT AGE GROUP. AND I THINK THAT HOPEFULLY WE WILL SEE THE IMPACT OF THAT WHEN THERE ARE INTERJURISDICTIONAL SPORTS OR OTHER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES THAT HAPPEN THAT WILL BENEFIT FROM HAVING ALL OF NORTHERN VIRGINIA WITH A FAIRLY HIGH VACCINATION RATE IN THOSE YOUTH. THAT DOES MEAN THERE ARE 42 PERCENT OF THAT AGE GROUP THAT ARE NOT YET VACCINATED. AND SO, WE ARE DOING A FEW SPECIFIC THINGS TO TRY AND GET TO THOSE FOLKS. SO TODAY WAS THE FIRST DAY THAT THE TEAM WELLNESS CENTER START VACCINATING [00:05:04] OUT OF THE CLINIC ITSELF. AND WE ARE STARTING WITH VACCINATING STUDENTS. STUDENTS MEANING ANYONE IN ALEXANDRIA WHO WAS BETWEEN 12 AND 19 YEARS OLD. THEY DON'T HAVE TO BE ATTENDING TC TO BE ABLE TO GET THE VACCINE. SO WE ARE STARTING TO OFFER TO ANYBODY WHO WAS COMING IN FOR ANY REASON. WE ARE ALSO OFFERING THE VACCINE AND SETTING UP A SEPARATE VACCINE SCHEDULE WHERE YOU CAN MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO SPECIFICALLY GET THE VACCINE. AND WE WILL BE EXPANDING THE APPOINTMENTS NOT ONLY TO STUDENTS, BUT TO THE FAMILIES OF STUDENTS, AS WELL AS TO SCHOOL STAFF. SO WE ARE DOING A BIT OF A SOFT OPENING RIGHT NOW AND NOT WIDELY PUBLICIZING THIS UNTIL WE ARE SURE WE HAVE OUR PROCESSES DOWN REALLY WELL. AT THAT POINT, WE WILL PARTNER WITH THE ACP ASK COMMUNICATIONS TO BE ABLE TO PUSH THIS INFORMATION OUT. WE ARE THANKFUL FOR THEIR PARTNERSHIP IN THE PAST FOR GETTING THE WORD OUT ABOUT OPPORTUNITIES. WE SERVE SOME 400 YOUTH AT THIS CURRENT TIME AMONG THESE EIGHT PROGRAMS. AND THESE ARE SOME NONPROFITS. AND ALSO CITY INVOLVED PROGRAMS. THIS POSITION WOULD SUPPORT THE CURRENT PROGRAMS SO IT WOULD ALSO BE DEDICATED TO REACH OUT TO FORM NEW PARTNERSHIPS LIKE BUSINESSES IN THE FAITH COMMUNITY. AND TRY TO SEEK MORE ADULTS TO HELP WITH YOUTH. FINALLY, IT'S REALLY GOT FOCUS ON THE LANGUAGE OF THE DEVELOPMENT €" THE DEVELOPMENTAL ASSETS. SERVICES LIKE THE MENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONERS, THE DC HS MENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONERS, AND THE FULL RANGE OF SERVICES THAT GO ON AT THE TEAM WELLNESS CENTER. SO IF THERE IS A PROCEDURE OR MEDICATION THAT THEY MIGHT NEED TO SEE A NURSE PRACTITIONER FOR, THAT THIS PUBLIC HEALTH NURSE WOULD ACT AS A BRIDGE TO MAKE SURE THAT OCCURS. WE DO HAVE SITUATIONS WHERE SEXUAL ASSAULTS HAPPEN OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL. THAT IF A YOUNG LADY FEELS EXCEPTIONALLY COMFORTABLE GOING UP TO A POLICE OFFICER. THERE WILL BE THINGS UNREPORTED.
