IT'S A SEPARATE AGENDA THAN THE PUBLISHED AGENDA, SORRY.

MINUTES.

AND WE WILL MOVE BACK TO THE APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FOR THE LAST MEETING.

A MOTION?

>> THIS IS AGAIN, I MOVE WE ACCEPT THE MINUTES AS WRITTEN.

[00:05:05]

>> I SECOND THAT.

>> THANK YOU.

[2. Public Comments]

>> LET'S MOVE ON TO THE AGENDA.

SOMETHING WE ALWAYS HAD WHEN WE WERE TOGETHER WE SOMETIMES GOT VOLUNTEERS, COMMUNITY PEOPLE TO COME IN AND SPEAK TO US AND TO SIT IN ON MEETINGS.

I DON'T KNOW WHETHER OR NOT WE HAVE ANYONE FROM THE COMMUNITY?

>> WE HAVE TWO MEMBERS HERE.

WE HAVE THIS SHEA AND MR. DOOLEY I'M GOING TO ALLOW MS. SHEA TO TALK SO SHE CAN SAY HELLO.

IF YOU WANT TO TURN ON YOUR MICROPHONE.

THERE YOU GO.

>> HI! I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO â€".

>> I DON'T THINK YOU CAN DO YOUR SCREEN.

>> HI EVERYBODY.

I AM EVA SHEA, JERRY FILE INVITED ME TO THE MEETING TO PARTICIPATE AND SEE HOW YOU GUYS RUN THE MEETINGS AND WHAT THE COMMITTEE IS ALL ABOUT.

I DID NOT GROW UP IN ALEXANDRIA, BUT I PLAYED SPORTS MY WHOLE LIFE AND COACHED IN ALEXANDRIA FOR MANY, MANY YEARS.

AND I APOLOGIZE I AM A LITTLE LATE, I WAS ACTUALLY JUST ON THE FIELD COACHING SOCCER.

BUT I AM EXCITED TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE COMMITTEE.

>> JUST SO YOU KNOW, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU ARE CALLED THE PRESIDENT OF THE OLD DOMINION CLUB.

>> SPORTSMAN CLUB.

>> SORRY! ALEXANDRIA SPORTSMAN CLUB.

SO SORRY!

>> IT'S ALL GOOD PUBLIC AND THAT IS HOW I MET JERRY.

THIS YEAR I AM THE PRESIDENT.

AND WE HAVE OUR OWN HALL OF FAME COMMITTEE AS WELL.

>> YES.

AND WE HAVE USED YOUR HALL OF FAME AS AN ARCHIVE FOR OUR HALL OF FAME.

VERY NICE.

DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS FOR THE COMMITTEE?

>> I DON'T YET, NOPE.

>> OKAY.

WHAT WE WILL END UP DOING IS WE WILL MUTE YOU AGAIN SO WE CAN LET MR. DOOLEY TALK.

AND IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, I THINK THERE IS A RAISED HAND BUTTON YOU CAN ALWAYS USE THROUGHOUT THE MEETING.

>> SOUNDS GOOD.

>> OKAY, GREAT.

THANK YOU.

HELLO MR. DOOLEY.

>> THERE WE GO.

>> HOW ARE YOU THIS EVENING?

>> I'M GOOD.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

>> MY NAME IS JAMES DOOLEY.

I GO BY JIM.

I GREW UP IN THE DELRAY SECTION OF ALEXANDRIA, GRADUATED FROM GEORGE WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL IN THE ROWING CREW WAS MY PRIMARY SPORT WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL.

I AM A MEMBER OF THE OLD DOMINION BOAT CLUB, I'M A PAST CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD THERE.

AND SINCE THE DEATH OF JULIAN WHITESTONE SOME YEARS AGO, I HAVE SHARED THE ROLLING COMMITTEE AT THE OLD DOMINION BOAT CLUB.

AND I TOO, LIKE MS. SHEA, WAS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE BY JURY FILE.

AND I AM VERY INTERESTED.

I ONLY LEARNED OF THE EXISTENCE OF THIS COMMITTEE AND THE WORTHWHILE WORK IT DOES A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO AND WOULD LOVE TO PARTICIPATE BROKEN SO WHATEVER I CAN DO TO HELP, PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

>> OKAY, GREAT.

I KNEW I HEARD OLD DOMINION ROAD CLUB SOMEWHERE.

MY APOLOGIES TO MS. SHEA.

WELCOME AND IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS DURING THE MEETING, I THINK YOU ARE ABLE TO RAISE YOUR HAND.

IF NOT, I WILL MAKE IT SO YOU CAN FORGET OKAY, GREAT.

THANK YOU.

>> THANK YOU AND WELCOME.

LET'S CONTINUE ON THE AGENDA.

OLD BUSINESS AND ACTION ITEMS THERE.

[4. Proposed Selection Process and Category Composition]

THE FIRST THING WE HAVE TO DECIDE IS GOING BACK TO NUMBERS.

COULD YOU PULL UP THE PROPOSAL RIGHT THERE, PLEASE?

>> YES, ONE SECOND.

SORRY, TOO MANY WINDOWS.

>> I DON'T KNOW MANY OF YOU HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO LOOK THROUGH THESE HERE, BUT THE ONE THING THAT BOGS US DOWN EVERY YEAR IS WHAT IS THE TOTAL NUMBER WE WANT TO HAVE EACH YEAR AND HOW DO WE BREAK IT DOWN TO MAKE SURE WE COVER THE THINGS WE THOUGHT WERE IMPORTANT OVER THE YEARS.

WE HAVE DONE AN EXCELLENT JOB IN THE PAST AND JUST TRYING TO STREAMLINE THIS AND GIVE US AN OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE SURE WE ARE DOING ALL WE CAN TO COVER ALL THE

[00:10:03]

BASES AND ALSO MAKE OUR JOB A LITTLE BIT EASIER.

AS YOU READ DOWN TO THE DOCUMENTS, YOU SEE THAT WE WANT TO TRY A SCREENING COMMITTEE.

A SCREENING COMMITTEE WHERE AS WE TALKED ABOUT IT LAST MEETING WERE DIVIDE THE COMMITTEE OF IN CERTAIN PHASES OF THE PROCESS AND READ REVIEW ONLY THOSE THINGS IF YOU DECIDE AND WANTED TO BE IN CHARGE, WANT TO BE A PART OF THE COMMITTEE THAT DEALS WITH THE POST 65 AND PRE-65 WILL GET THE GROUP THERE.

AND THE APPLICATION YOU WILL REVIEW AND COME BACK WITH THE COMMITTEE.

ALL THE NUMBERS YOU SEE HERE ARE BASICALLY RECOMMENDATIONS.

LOOKING FOR INPUT AND HOPE THAT WE GET THROUGH THIS PROCESS AND MAKE IT MUCH MORE PLENTY FOR ALL OF US AND BE CONSISTENT.

THERE IS A LOT TO TRY TO INTAKE, SIMILAR TO WHAT WE TALKED ABOUT THE LAST TIME.

BUT AGAIN, WENT BACK SINCE THE LAST MEETING AND TRIED TO INCLUDE THOSE IN THOSE IDEAS AND THOUGHTS INTO THE PROCESS.

I WILL GIVE YOU SOME MORE TIME TO LOOK AT IT.

BUT THEN I WILL ASK FOR A MOTION.

>> DOES ANYONE WANT TO DISCUSS IT OR DO WE MAKE A MOTION AND THEN DISCUSS IT?

>> LET ME GET A MOTION AND THEN I WILL JUST TELL YOU FIRST.

>> EVERY YEAR, I'M TRYING TO THINK WHAT WOULD BE THE BIGGEST CHANGE.

>> YOU IS THAT, MARK? LET'S GET A MOTION SO WE CAN HAVE DISCUSSIONS.

>> IS THERE A MOTION TO DISCUSS?

>> WE DO THE MOTION AND THEN WE DISCUSS.

>> I WILL SECOND THAT.

I'M JUST TRYING TO FIGURE OUT.

>> WHAT YOU CAN SAY IS THAT YOU MOVED TO APPROVE.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO APPROVE IN THE END, BUT YOU HAVE TO MAKE OF THE MOTION TO DISCUSS.

>> THANK YOU FOR THAT CLARIFICATION PAREN I MOVED TO APPROVE THE CATEGORIES AS LISTED.

>> IS THERE A SECOND?

>> I SECONDED.

>> OKAY PERMIT ANY DISCUSSIONS? WE CAN TAKE PART OF THE TIME TO GO THROUGH DISCUSSION.

>> MARK, WHAT IS YOUR QUESTION AGAIN?

>>MARK WIEDEMER : I WAS TRYING TO THINK WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BIGGEST CHANGES.

I THINK THE BIGGEST ISSUE WOULD BE â€" WHAT WE ARE SAYING IS THERE IS A MINIMUM NUMBER OF 10 EVERY YEAR THAT WE WOULD INDUCT OR THAT THE COMMITTEE WOULD INDUCT.

>> THAT WOULD BE THE MAXIMUM NUMBER.

>> THAT WAS MY QUESTION.

IT SAYS THE MAXIMUM â€" THE MINIMUM NUMBER IS 10 BUT YOU GO DOWN TO A AND IT SAYS THE MAXIMUM NUMBER IS 10.

>>AK JOHNSON : THE NUMBER OUT IN EACH CATEGORY.

THAT IS THE MINIMUM IN EACH CATEGORY.

>>MARK WIEDEMER : WHICH MEANS WE WILL NEVER HAVE ANY MORE OR ANY LESS THAN 10, RIGHT?

>>AK JOHNSON : THAT IS CORRECT.

>>MARK WIEDEMER : THAT WOULD BE MORE THAN WE WERE DOING THIS YEAR.

MY PERSONAL SENSE IS DEPENDING ON THE NOMINEES, I'M ALSO THINKING LIKE FIVE YEARS FROM NOW.

MAY BE SOME MORE FLEXIBILITY.

I GUESS THE MINIMUM NUMBER.

WILL, THE MINIMUM NUMBER IN MY OPINION FEELS TOO HIGH.

THE THING WE ARE TRYING TO SOLVE FOR FOR ALL THESE DIFFERENT CATEGORIES IS MAKING SURE WE PROPERLY GIVE DUE TO TRADITIONALLY UNDERREPRESENTED GROUPS.

WHETHER IT BE PRE-65 TEAMS WERE WOMEN AND WE ARE MAKING SURE WE ARE SEPARATELY COACHES AND ADMINISTRATORS.

IT COULD BE FROM A MINIMUM NUMBER PERSPECTIVE, WE MIGHT NOT EVEN HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT

[00:15:01]

DECIDING THERE IS A MINIMUM NUMBER OF POST 6500 OR WE COULD SAY THAT WOULD BE ONE ALSO.

WHY WOULD WE NECESSARILY SAVE YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO HAVE AT LEAST POST 65 GROUP.

IT WILL PROBABLY HAPPEN NATURALLY WRITTEN THIS WAY WITH THIS WOULD BE READING IS FROM ANY GIVEN YEAR WE WILL HAVE 5 TO 10 HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES.

EACH ONE OF THE MINIMUM ARE ONE IN THEM WITH THE GUARD RAILS WE HAVE BEEN TWO, THREE AND FOUR, THAT FEELS LIKE GOOD FLEXIBILITY IN PROTECTING WHAT IT IS THE COMMITTEE HAS TALKED ABOUT BEING SUPER IMPORTANT THAT WE ARE GIVING DUE COURSE AND CONSIDERATION TO.

>> I WOULD AGREE WITH MARK ON THAT.

I THINK WE KEEP THE MINIMUMS IN THE OTHER CATEGORIES WE ARE NATURALLY GOING TO HAVE A LOT MORE.

BUT IF SOME OF THE OTHER 365 RISE, THEN WE CAN GET TWO OR THREE OF THOSE IN AND WE WOULD STILL BE PART OF THAT 10.

>> THERE AREN'T A LOT OF FEMALES IN THAT CATEGORY.

I DON'T KNOW IF IT ALLOWS YOU TO HAVE A MALE AND A FEMALE.

>> IT IS A MINIMUM.

WE CAN HAVE MORE.

>> I THINK WHAT MARK'S POINT WHEN HE HAD THE MINIMUM OF SIX, THAT IS AN OUTLIER BECAUSE IF WE REALLY HAVE TO DO SIX POST 65 ATHLETES AND YOU ARE TAKING UP A HUGE CHUNK OF THE CLASS EVERY YEAR.

>> THAT GROUP IS RIGHT NOW LOOKING AT THE APPLICATION OR THE LARGER GROUP WE HAVE.

>> RIGHT.

AND I THINK THEY ALWAYS WILL BE.

THERE WILL ONLY BE MORE OF THEM.

AND SO PUTTING A MINIMUM IS TYPICALLY PUT IN TO MAKE SURE THAT WE DON'T OVERSAMPLE FOR THAT GROUP.

THAT IS KIND OF THE GROUP WE KNOW THAT WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE MOST.

WHAT WE ARE TRYING TO PROTECT WITH THE 40 PERCENT IS THE GENDER ISSUE IN THE PRE-65 AND THE BREAKING OUT OF THE TEAMS THING TO MAKE SURE WE ARE LOOKING BACK FAR ENOUGH ON HISTORY ON A YEAR-OVER-YEAR BASIS, WHICH MAKES A TON OF SENSE TO ME.

AND I THINK ALL THOSE THINGS ARE ACCOMPLISHED BY PUSHING DOWN THE MINIMUM NUMBER OF POST 65 TO 1 AND THAT GIVES US ALL THE FLEXIBILITY WE NEED IN ANY GIVEN YEAR TO DO THE RIGHT THING FOR THE NOMINEES.

SAME WITH IN THE GUARD RAILS OF WHATEVER IT IS, THREE IN THE MAXIMUM OF 10 AND 40 PERCENT.

>> OKAY PERMIT ANY DISCUSSIONS QUICK.

>> I HAVE A QUESTION FOR BUT I'M NOT TECHNICALLY PART OF THE COMMITTEE.

I KNOW THE FEMALES ARE INCLUDED AS PART OF THE POST 65 AND WHATEVER, BUT IS THERE ANYTHING IN HERE THAT GUARANTEES A CERTAIN NUMBER OF FEMALES WILL BE CHOSEN?

>>AK JOHNSON : GO DOWN.

>> YOU HAD IT ON THERE IT WAS TOO, WAS AN.

>> ICIE.

NO MORE THAN 60 PERCENT OF INDUCTEES IN ANY GIVEN YEAR MAY BE OF ONE GENDER.

>> RIGHT.

THIS IS A POINT OF CLEAR â€" THE INTENT HERE THAT IF A TEAM IS ONE OF THE GIRLS TEAMS PARIS BUT SAID WE HAVE 10.

IF YOU ARE TRYING TO MAKE SURE THAT WE HAVE AT LEAST FOUR INDIVIDUALS, TEENS OR COACH ADMINISTRATORS, IS THAT THE INTENTION?

>> YES.

>> OKAY.

>> TEAM WOULD BE ONE.

>> NUMBER THREE WE LOOKED AT AGAIN THOSE NUMBERS AS JUST NUMBERS, RANDOM NUMBERS.

WE LOOKED AT IT FROM THE COMMITTEE WE WILL BRING BACK THE FINAL NUMBERS FOR THE WHOLE COMMITTEE TO VOTE ON.

AND WE WILL VOTE ON IT ACCORDING TO THE CATEGORIES.

ARE THEY GOING TO PASS? THE WHOLE CATEGORIES TOGETHER.

SELECTING A CERTAIN NUMBER.

WE NARROW THAT DOWN TO A CERTAIN NUMBER TO COME UP WITH OUR FINALISTS.

BUT WE ARE HOPING THAT WORK WILL BE DONE WITHIN THE COMMITTEES, THE SCREENING COMMITTEES.

BUT IT IS STILL OUR RESPONSIBILITY AS A COMMITTEE TO LOOK AT ALL THE APPLICATIONS.

AGAIN, MORE AND MORE COMING IN AND THE DEADLINE IS MARCH 31.

>> I HAVE A QUESTION, MR. JOHNSON.

CAN I ASK IT NOW?

>>AK JOHNSON : YES.

>> THE LAST MEETING I WAS ON, I JUST WANT TO BE CLEAR.

[00:20:07]

YOU ALL HAVE YOUR 2020/2021 ALREADY DONE?

>> WE HAVE OUR â€".

>> 2020 ALREADY COMPLETED.

>> WHICH MEANS WHAT?

>> THEY ARE VOTED ON AND CHOSEN AND THEY ARE APPEARING ON THE BOARD AGENDA FOR APPROVAL ON THE FOURTH OF THIS THURSDAY.

AND SO WE DON'T DO IT BY SCHOOL YEAR.

WE DON'T CALL IT 20 TO 21, JUST TO CLARIFY.

WHEN WE STARTED THE HALL OF FAME WE WERE DOING THE INDUCTION.

I GUESS IN JANUARY.

AND SO THAT IS HOW WE GOT THE NUMBER.

WE APPROVED IT â€" THE NUMBERS GOT KINDA SCREWED UP BECAUSE I THINK IT GOT APPROVED EARLY IN THE INDUCTION GOT MOVED TO JANUARY SO IT DIDN'T MATCH WITH THE YEAR.

WE DO THE FALL AS THE YEAR OF THE INDUCTION.

THAT'S HOW WE NUMBER IT.

THIS FALL WILL BE 2021.

THAT IS WHY IT IS CALLED THE CLASS OF 21 BILLION OR INDUCTION OF THE 21.

>> FOR THE FIRST GROUP WE JUST TOOK APPROVAL ON THE FOURTH IS FOR THE FALL OF 20.

IN THIS GROUP GOING FORWARD WILL BE THE FALL OF 21 DOING TWO CLASSES AT THE SAME TIME.

>> OKAY PERMIT I THINK I REMEMBER HEARING THAT.

WE WILL DOUBLE UP FOR THIS ONE TIME ONLY.

>> THAT IS CORRECT.

>> THANK YOU.

>>AK JOHNSON : ANY OTHER DISCUSSION? HEARING NO DISCUSSION, CAN I GET A MOTION?

>> WE HAVE A MOTION, BUT IF ANYONE WANTS TO AMEND THE MOTION THEY CAN DO THAT.

>> I PROPOSE THAT WE AMEND THE MINIMUM NUMBER OF POST 65 ATHLETES TO A MINIMUM OF ONE.

>> I WOULD SECOND THAT.

>> REPEAT THAT MOTION.

>> THE POST 65 NUMBER OF MINIMUM ATHLETES FROM SIX TO ONE.

IN ONE â€" WHATEVER THAT IS.

>> I DON'T HAVE A TON OF EXPERIENCE, BUT WOULDN'T WHAT YOU WANT THE MINIMUM TO BE TOO SO YOU COULD HAVE ONE FEMALE, ONE MALE SO IT WOULD BE MORE EVEN.

>> NOT NECESSARILY.

WE ARE PROTECTING FOR THE GENDER ISSUE IN NUMBER SIX.

BY SAYING AT THE END OF THE DAY YOU NEED AT LEAST 40 PERCENT OF BOTH AND NO MORE THAN 60 PERCENT OF EITHER ONE OF THEM.

AND SO THERE COULD BE A YEAR â€" WE HAVEN'T SEEN IT, BUT I CAN IMAGINE A YEAR WHERE THE ONLY WERE THE POST 65 CANDIDATE IS A FEMALE, WHICH COULD BE PERFECTLY FINE.

AND IN THAT CASE MAYBE YOU ALSO HAVE A FEMALE COACH THAT GETS IN.

AND MAYBE THERE IS A FEMALE TEAM.

THAT WOULD MEAN IT WOULD THEN PROBABLY NEED TO BE â€" TO OFFSET THAT, HE WOULD HAVE TO FIND TWO MALE TEENS OR MAYBE A PRE-65 ATHLETE WHO IS A MALE.

YOU ARE SOLVING FOR THE GENDER INEQUALITY WITH NUMBER SIX.

>> I WOULD AGREE.

>> SO THERE WILL NEVER BE A YEAR WHEN WE GO FORWARD WITH ANY LESS THAN 40 PERCENT OF THE TOTAL HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES BEING FEMALE ANYMORE, WHICH IS A HUGE STEP FORWARD I THINK.

>> I HAVE ANOTHER QUESTION THEN.

HOW DO WE PREVENT WHEN PEOPLE BREAK INTO SUBCOMMITTEES.

SO WHEN YOU ARE COMING OUT WITH THEIR GROUP OF FEAR OF THE NOMINEES FROM OUR COMMITTEE, HOW DO WE MAKE SURE THERE IS INDEED 60 PERCENT? WHAT IF EVERYONE COMES BACK WITH THREE MALE ATHLETES OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT.

HOW DO WE, HOW DO WE â€".

>> I THINK IF YOU KNOW AT THE END OF THE DAY, YOU ARE NOT GETTING TO IN INDUCTION ABOUT A 60/40 SPLIT THAN THE COMMITTEES WILL HAVE TO BE SMART ENOUGH TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE DOING THEIR DUE DILIGENCE.

FOR SOME OF THESE THE MINIMUM IS ONE, RIGHT?

[00:25:03]

WE WILL NOT DO A MINIMUM OF TWO BECAUSE THEN BEFORE YOU KNOW IT YOU ARE FORCING POSSIBLY A HIGHER NUMBER THAN YOU MIGHT OTHERWISE THINK.

I THINK YOU GET THERE.

AND ALMOST ALWAYS IT WILL PROBABLY BE â€" I THINK IN EITHER THE POST 65 TEAMS OR ATHLETES WHERE THE COACHES, ADMINISTRATORS AND CONTRIBUTORS, THAT IS WHERE YOU WILL GET YOUR BALANCE.

AND I THINK PROBABLY WHAT YOU NEED TO DO FROM A PROCESS PERSPECTIVE IS ONCE WE SEE THE FINALISTS NUMBERS, WE PROBABLY JUST NEED TO SANITY CHECK TO MAKE SURE THAT WE HAVE ENOUGH TO GET US TO THE RIGHT RATIOS.

AND IF NOT, WE SEND THE COMMITTEES BACK TO RETHINK IT.

I THINK.

>> I THINK YOU ARE RIGHT.

THE NUMBER WE ARE BRINGING FORWARD MAY HELP THEM ALSO THAT WE COULD PULL UP THERE WITH GO BACK TO FIND THE NEXT PERSON IN THAT CATEGORY THAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.

TO COME UP WITH OUR 4060.

>> I WOULD THINK SO.

AND I THINK IF YOU ALL KNOW AT THE END OF THE DAY YOU WILL HAVE TO GET TO THE 60/40 SPLIT, MY GUESS IS THAT WILL DRIVE BETTER BEHAVIOR AT THE COMMITTEE LEVEL AND YOU WILL SEE MORE NATURAL REPRESENTATION WITHIN EACH OF THE COMMITTEES.

>> I THINK IT MIGHT SOLVE ITSELF LOOKING AT IT.

BECAUSE WE ARE GOING TO HAVE COMMITTEES.

AND WITH ALL THE NOMINEES, WE KNOW WE ARE GOING TO HAVE 10 AND WE KNOW AT LEAST 40 PERCENT HAVE TO BE WOMEN, WHEN IT COMES TO THE FINALISTS IF THERE ARE FOR WOMEN FINALISTS, THAT IS YOUR FOR INDUCTEES FOR THAT YEAR.

I CAN'T IMAGINE EVER HAVING LESS THAN FOUR NOMINEES OUT OF THE FINALISTS.

WOULDN'T THAT SOLVE IT ON ITS FACE?

>> I PERSONALLY WOULD THINK SO AND I THINK WE WILL KNOW EARLY ON IN THE PROCESS IF OUR ASSUMPTIONS ARE WRONG.

>>AK JOHNSON : OKAY.

>> THE PROCESS CAN STILL BE MODIFIED IN THE FUTURE.

>>AK JOHNSON : ANY OTHER DISCUSSIONS? WE HAVE AN AMENDMENT ON THE TABLE TO CHANGE THE POST 65 FROM 6 TO 1.

>> WE NEED A SECOND.

>> I WILL SECOND IT.

>>AK JOHNSON : OKAY.

>> I THINK WE WILL HAVE TO DO A ROLL CALL VOTE.

>> OKAY.

DO YOU WANT ME TO DO THE ROLL CALL, OR DO YOU WANT TO?

>> GO AHEAD, PLEASE.

>> I'M DOING AND IN THE ORDER I SEE YOU ON THE SCREEN TO READ MR. LEWIS.

>> THAT'S A YES.

>> THANK YOU.

MR. TROUT.

>> AGREED.

>> WAS THAT A YES?

>> YES.

>> YES.

>> MR. SANDERS.

>> YES.

>> MARK, YOU DON'T VOTE.

KAMILAH?

>> YES.

YOUR SOUND JUST WENT OUT, SUSAN.

YOU ARE BACK.

>> SORRY, I HAVE BAD EARPHONES.

JIM CLARK?

>> YES.

>> MICHAEL JOHNSON?

>> YES.

>> MONICA? THAT WAS A YES.

MR. WIEDEMER?

>> YES.

>> SO WE HAVE A UNANIMOUS VOTE.

OF 9/0.

>>AK JOHNSON : GREAT.

>> AND NOW THAT YOU HAVE ADOPTED THAT AMENDMENT, YOU DO HAVE TO ADOPT THE PROPOSAL.

>>AK JOHNSON : CAN YOU SPEAK UP A LITTLE BIT?

>> SORRY.

NOW THAT WE HAVE ADOPTED THE AMENDMENT, YOU DO HAVE TO ADOPT THE ORIGINAL AMENDMENT TO ADOPT THE PROPOSAL.

SO WE HAVE A MOTION AND A SECOND.

I'M GOING TO CALL FOR THE ROLE AGAIN.

[00:30:02]

MR. LEWIS?

>> YES.

>> MR. TROUT?

>> YES.

>> MR. JOHNSON?

>> YES.

>> MR. SANDERS.

>> YES.

>> MS. LAWSON.

>> YES.

>> JUDGE CLARK.

>> YES.

>> MICHAEL JOHNSON.

>> YES.

>> ANNIKA.

>> YES.

>> MARK WIEDEMER.

>> YES.

>> OKAY.

THAT IS ALSO AN ADOPTION.

SO IT IS PAST.

YOU ARE GOOD TO GO.

>> THANK YOU EVERYONE.

[5. Proposed Nomination Screening Worksheet]

THIS IS SOMETHING WE ALWAYS REVIEW AT THE END OF THE JUNE MEETINGS FOR NEXT YEAR TO MAKE SURE THERE IS ANYTHING WE WANT TO CHANGE OR UPDATE THAT YOU ARE SATISFIED WITH.

THIS IS A START.

AND HOPE IT MAKES THE WHOLE PROCESS EASIER FOR US.

THE NEXT HARD PART WOULD BE TO HAVE PEOPLE VOLUNTEER FOR CERTAIN CATEGORIES.

I THINK I WILL PUT THAT ON MY NEXT AGENDA SO WE CAN BE READY TO GO.

SHE HAS BEEN WORKING ON THE NOTEBOOKS FOR THOSE NEW NUMBERS TO MAKE SURE HE GOT ALL THE INFORMATION YOU NEED.

WE MAKE SURE WE LOOK AT THE CATEGORIES SET FORTH IN AS CLOSE AS POSSIBLE.

FOR EACH CATEGORY I DON'T THINK WE NEED TO BREAK IT UP.

AS ARE LISTED ON THE PROPOSAL ONE, 23.

AND WE WILL DIVIDE OURSELVES UP AS ONE HAD A PREFERENCE WILL SHOULD HONOR THAT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE IF YOU NOMINATED SOMEONE IN THAT CATEGORY YOU MAY WANT TO MOVE YOURSELF AWAY FROM THAT AS POSSIBLE.

WHAT WAS THAT, BOB?

>> CAN WE BE INTO CATEGORIES?

>> YES, THAT WOULD BE FINE.

AGAIN, JUST TRYING TO LIGHTEN THE LOAD A LITTLE BIT.

THERE IS A LOT GOING INTO THAT.

SUSAN, HOW MANY NEW APPLICATIONS HAVE WE GOTTEN SO FAR?

>> I DIDN'T COUNT THEM, ACTUALLY.

SOME OF WHAT WE RECEIVED WAS MORE INFORMATION ABOUT NOMINEES WE ALREADY HAVE.

BUT WE GOT SOME NOMINATIONS NEW, BUT I DIDN'T COUNT THEM, I'M SORRY.

WE DIDN'T GET AS MANY ATHLETES AS I THOUGHT WE WOULD GET.

BUT WE GOT SOME NEW PEOPLE AND SOME REALLY GOOD PEOPLE.

I WILL JUST HAVE TO LOOK THROUGH.

I'M SORRY, I DIDN'T COME UP WITH A NUMBER.

>>AK JOHNSON : AND SO WE ARE STILL TRYING TO COVER ALL THE SCHOOLS THAT WE HAVE HAD TO PUT THE SCHOOLS IN.

ALL THE SPORTS, THAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO LOOK AT.

I MADE SOME CALLS TODAY FOR SOME COACHES THAT MAY NOT BE ABLE TO REPRESENT IT.

IN THE HALL OF FAME TO COME UP WITH NOMINEES RECOMMENDED SOMEONE TO HELP US OUT HERE.

WE ARE DOING OUR JOBS TO MAKE SURE THEY BRING FORWARD THE BEST QUALIFIED CANDIDATE FOR INDUCTION, OKAY?

>> QUICK QUESTION.

I'M SORRY.

I DON'T SEE THE RAISE YOUR HAND.

I HATE TO KEEP CUTTING INCOME.

SUSAN, WHO IS HELPING YOU SEPARATE ALL OF THIS?

>> THE NOMINATIONS ACTUALLY COME INTO BOARD CLERK ACCOUNTS.

USUALLY PRINT THEM OFF AND GO INTO THE ACCOUNT WHERE THEY ARE GATHERED AND MAKE SURE EVERYONE GOT FORWARDED.

AND I PULL OFF ANYONE THAT HASN'T.

MOST EVERYBODY HAS A NOTEBOOK.

FOR MOST PEOPLE ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS GIVE THEM A NEW SHEET.

HAVE A COMPLETE NOTEBOOK HERE AND COUGHLIN AND I JUST HAVE TO GET THE NOTEBOOKS FOR THAT.

>> I'M TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WE â€" WHERE WE NEED HELP AND WHAT I CAN DO TO HELP HER IN.

>> I DON'T KNOW IF YOU SAW HER EMAIL TODAY.

SHE UPDATED THE APPLICATION.

TAKE A LOOK AT IT WAS DIFFERENT FROM THE PREVIOUS ONE.

IT MAKES IT TO THE PREVIOUS ONE AND IF WE HAVE A SUGGESTION FOR HER?

>> I CAN PULL IT UP IF YOU CAN SEE IT.

I FEEL LIKE I NEED A JEOPARDY CUBE.

[00:35:19]

SO HERE IS THE NOMINATION FORM.

IS COPIED FROM THE OLD ONE, WHICH IS WHY IT SAYS COPY.

IN THE LANGUAGE OF THE BEGINNING IS THE SAME.

WE GET DOWN HERE THE DARKER LANGUAGE.

WHEN THEY WERE FILLING OUT THE APPLICATION THEY DON'T OFTEN HAVE THE STATISTICS NEEDED FOR THE CANDIDATE AND SOMETIMES PEOPLES MOMS NOMINATE THEM AND THEIR CHILD IS REALLY GREAT.

BUT HERE I ADDED ABOUT HOW WE DON'T NEED MULTIPLE NOMINATIONS YOU CONTINUE TO SUBMIT NOMINATIONS.

IF THEY WERE NOMINATED MULTIPLE TIMES YOU HAVE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION YOU CAN ADD MORE IMPORTANT WHAT CHANGED ABOUT THE APPLICATION FORM IS YOU WOULD PUT IN THE NAME OF THE NOMINEE AS YOU SELECT DIFFERENT CATEGORIES, DIFFERENT THINGS BELOW SHOW UP AND DISAPPEAR.

FOR A CONTRIBUTOR OR A COACH.

SO ANYWAY, I WILL GO THROUGH THE ATHLETE.

THEY PUT IN THEIR GRADUATION YEAR.

AND THEN THEY CAN CHECK ALL OF THE THINGS THAT QUALIFY THEM FOR THE HALL OF FAME LIKE THEY WERE A HIGH SCHOOL RECORD HOLDER, THEY HAD REGION, STATE, NATIONAL TITLES, OLYMPIC CONTENDER.

AND IF THE PERSON DOESN'T KNOW, THEY CAN CHECK DON'T KNOW, IN WHICH CASE WE MIGHT HAVE TO SEND THE APPLICATION BACK TO THEM.

HERE THEY WERE SUPPOSED TO LIST SPECIFICALLY THEY HAD THE 1984 STATE TITLE AND SHOTPUT THESE OTHER TWO QUESTIONS WERE REPEATED FROM THE FORMER APPLICATION.

THAT'S FOR THE ATHLETE.

A TEAM IS AT THE DIFFERENT AND THEY HAVE THE OPTION TO LIST TEAM MEMBER NAMES.

THIS ONE IS WONKY AND THAT THERE IS THESE THINGS ABOUT NOT ONLY WHAT THEY ACCOMPLISHED BUT WHAT THEY DID AFTER HIGH SCHOOL.

THAT ONE IS HARD FOR THAT ONE.

AND WITH THE COACH THE COACH OF THE CONTRIBUTOR AND THAT BEING SIMILAR IN THE WAY THE APPLICATION RUNS.

YOU PUT ALL THE INFORMATION IN AT THE TOP AND HERE IS TO THE GRADUATION EARS, IT ASKED FOR YOUR YEARS ACTIVE.

BUT IF THE COACH OR CONTRIBUTOR IS AN ALUMNI MEMBER, YOU CAN CLICK THAT AND PUT IN THEIR GRADUATION EAR AND IF THEY HAD NO SPORTS ACTIVITY AND THEN DOWN HEAR THEIR IS AN OPTION TO THIS CONTRIBUTED TO NOT PLAY ANY SPORTS.

ALL THE INFORMATION ABOUT ATHLETICS IN HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE DISAPPEARS.

AND THEY ARE GOING TO PUT WHY THEY ARE AN IMPORTANT CONTRIBUTOR TO SPORTS.

THIS IS THE WRONG QUESTION.

I WILL FIX THAT.

IT SHOULD BE THE ONE HOLIDAY CONTRIBUTE TO SPORTS.

WHY IS THIS CONTRIBUTOR IMPORTANT TO SPORTS IN ALEXANDRIA CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

THAT IS BECAUSE THIS IS A COACH.

WHEN WE DO THE CONTRIBUTOR, THAT'S WHY THAT QUESTION SHOWS UP.

AT THE BOTTOM IT SHOULD SAY WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT TO THE ATHLETIC REALLY GIVES YOU KIND OF DIFFERENT QUESTIONS.

IT JUST TAKES AWAY SOME THEY DON'T HAVE TO ANSWER.

AND THEN IF ANYBODY HAS ANY FEEDBACK, THEY ARE WELCOME TO GO IN AND FILL IT OUT ON

[00:40:05]

THE OWN FROM THE LINK I SENT EARLIER IN THE EMAIL.

I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE IT ACTIVE TOMORROW.

WE CAN STILL TWEAK IT.

IN THE OLD FORM WILL LINK TO THE NEW FORM.

IT WILL ASK THEM TO CLICK HERE TO GO TO THE NEW FORM FOR IT OR I CAN WAIT UNTIL MONDAY WE ARE ALREADY IN THE NEXT GROUPING.

WOULD BE BETTER TO GET IT STARTED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

>> PLAY WITH IT A LITTLE BIT?

>> IF YOU PLAY WITH IT, DON'T PUT IN A REAL NOMINATE.

>> I WOULD MOVE NOT TO PLAY WITH ANYTHING AND APPROVE THE NEW NOMINATION FORMS AS THEY ARE DRAWN.

>> OKAY.

IS THERE EMOTION? GOT A SECOND? HEARING ON.

>> IN THE OBJECTIONS IN THE OBJECTIONS?

>> HEARING ON, ALL IN FAVOR SAY AYE.

>> AYE.

>> ALL OPPOSED? MOTION PASSES.

>> ALL RIGHT.

>>AK JOHNSON : SUSAN, COULD YOU PULL THAT ONE OTHER DOCUMENT I HAD? THIS DOCUMENT BASICALLY TALKS ABOUT THE NOMINATION HERE.

THIS IS A WORKSHEET I PLAYED WITH.

IT HELPED US IN THAT WHERE WE START OUT.

>> OKAY.

>> THIS IS SOMETHING WE PLAYED WITH.

THE OPPORTUNITY AS WE GO THROUGH WE CAN CHECK, MAKE NOTES BASED ON THE CRITERIA WE HAVE SET TO FOLLOW IN ORDER FOR SOMEONE TO BE NOMINATED.

IF THE STUDENT ATHLETE PLAYED SPORTS, THIS AND THAT.

ALL DISTRICT, ALL REGIONAL, ALLSTATE, ALL AMERICAN AND OTHERS.

JUST TO CHECKLIST AS YOUR COMMITTEE AND YOU INDIVIDUALLY GO THROUGH IT AND YOU CAN LOOK AT IT AND SAY ALL RIGHT, THIS IS THE WEIGHT OF THE CRITERIA.

THIS PERSON IS NOMINATED, THIS AND THAT.

AND I WANT TO TAKE THAT FORWARD.

ANY QUESTIONS? I WILL MAKE IT AVAILABLE FOR EVERYONE.

USE IT OR USE THE METHOD YOU HAVE BEEN USING BEFORE.

BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD STARTING POINT.

>> I DON'T HAVE A QUESTION, BUT I HAVE A QUICK COMMENT THAT PIGGYBACKS ON WHAT YOU JUST SAID AND WHAT YOU JUST SHOWN.

I DON'T HAVE â€" I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY ARE FAMILIAR WITH A FAIRLY NEW SOURCE INFORMATION SPECIFICALLY BASKETBALL AND WHERE IT IS CALLED NORTHERN VIRGINIA LEGENDS.

AND FOCUS ON THE OTHER BASKETBALL REGIONS OF NORTHERN VIRGINIA PARIS AND I FOUND IT IS RUN BY A JULIAN BROWN WRITTEN I HAVE BEEN VERY IMPRESSED WITH THEIR EFFORT ON THEIR DILIGENCE AND THEIR ACCURACY.

IN THE EXPLOSION WITH WHICH BASKETBALL JUNKIES HAVE GRAVITATED TOWARDS IT.

AND SO I KNOW WE DISCUSSED WHETHER INDIVIDUALLY OR AS A GROUP THE SOURCES BY WHICH WE CAN VERIFY ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF THESE ATHLETES AND TEAMS. AND SO THIS IS JUST ANOTHER SOURCE.

AND HERE IS A PERFECT EXAMPLE.

AND SEE HOW GOOD WE ALL ARE.

TODAY'S TRIVIA QUESTION WAS WHAT WAS THE FIRST ALEXANDRIA SCHOOL TO WIN A STATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP IN MEN'S BASKETBALL.

DOES ANYONE KNOW THE ANSWER TO THAT?

>> I'M GOING TO SAY PARKER BRAGG.

>> I SAY PARKER GREAT TOO.

I FORGOT TO SHOW YOU HOW FAR BACK OUR HIGH SCHOOLS IN.

[00:45:03]

>> I WOULD HAVE SELECTED THE PARKER GREAT.

ALEXANDER HIGH SCHOOL IN 1928.

AND WEDNESDAY CLOSED GEORGE WASHINGTON.

JUST BITS OF INFORMATION.

THIS IS AN EXCELLENT COMPLEMENT TO THE TYPE OF RESEARCH AND SOURCES WE FIND OUT MORE INFORMATION ABOUT ALEXANDRIA STUDENTS AND ATHLETES AND COACHES AND TEAMS. I CAN FORWARD IT TO YOU.

AND ON FACEBOOK?

>> NOT REALLY.

>> I WROTE THAT DOWN.

I WILL LOOK AT.

WHEN YOU GO INTO THE NOMINATION FORM CLICK THE DOWN ARROW WHEN YOU CHOOSE THE HIGH SCHOOL YOUR NOMINEES FROM THERE'S EVERY HIGH SCHOOL LISTED AFTER 1900S.

AND THERE ARE ACTUALLY THREE â€" THERE ARE TWO GEORGE WASHINGTON.

ONE IS GEORGE WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL, ONE IS THE GEORGE WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL AND THE OTHER ONE IS GEORGE WASHINGTON SCHOOL.

THERE IS A LOT.

>> OKAY.

THANK YOU.

THAT IS SOMETHING WE ALL DO IN OUR COMMITTEES TO DO THE RESEARCH AND THERE IS A LOT OF TRYING TO FIND OUT THE WEBSITE ARCHIVES.

WE WILL GO BACK TO THE AGENDA.

MY REPORT.

THANK YOU FOR THE TIME YOU PUT INTO.

LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MEETING SO WE CAN START GETTING THE COMMITTEES TOGETHER.

AND START OUR PROCESS AND GET READY TO SELECT 2021 NOMINEES.

WHICH IS VERY IMPORTANT.

STILL LOOKING FOR A SECRETARY.

WE HOPE WE CAN HAVE SOMEONE WE CAN PUSH FORWARD BY THE START OF OUR NEXT MEETING.

>> GIVE THEM MY NOMINEE, TRYING TO.

>> I NOMINATE MICHAEL JOHNSON.

>> OKAY.

WE HAVE TWO NAMES OUT THERE THAT HAVE BEEN NOMINATED.

>> I SECOND MICHAEL JOHNSON.

SECOND FOR MICHAEL JOHNSON.

I ALSO HAVE KAMILAH LAWSON.

BY THE WAY, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY.

>> THANK YOU SO MUCH!

>>AK JOHNSON : YESTERDAY WAS HER BIRTHDAY.

>> THANK YOU.

>> THEY HAVE TO ACCEPT THE NOMINATION.

ALL DO IT.

>> OKAY.

>> THANK YOU, MIKE.

>> I KNOW YOU JUST NEED THINGS TO DO AROUND THE HOUSE.

DO A LITTLE SHOW ON THE SIDES.

>> YOU ARE SAYING TOO MUCH NOW.

>> I WILL GIVE YOU SOME POINTERS.

>>AK JOHNSON : MICHAEL, YOU WITHDRAW YOUR NAME?

>>MICHAEL JOHNSON: SURE.

I NEVER EVEN MENTIONED MY NAME.

I WILL DRAW, YEAH.

>>AK JOHNSON : ALL RIGHT.

ALL IN FAVOR AS KAMILAH A OUR SECRETARY.

AYE.

>> AYE.

>>AK JOHNSON : THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

SUSAN WOULD BE A GREAT HELP IN THE PROCESS FOR YOU.

>> THANKS.

>> YOU'RE WELCOME.

>> ANY ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE NUMBERS.

ANY ANNOUNCEMENTS HE WOULD LIKE TO MAKE?

>> YES.

WE ARE GOING AROUND TO DIFFERENT NEIGHBORHOODS THERE BUT I MEAN BY WEEK OF THE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY GROUP, LAW ENFORCEMENT, POLICE DEPARTMENT WITH HEALTH DEPARTMENT.

WHAT WE ARE DOING IS KNOCKING ON DOORS TO ASK PEOPLE TO MAKE SURE THEY REGISTERED TO GET THE VACCINE.

WE HAVE BASICALLY BEEN IN THE AREA BECAUSE BROWN AND BLACK POPULATIONS ARE DOWN BEEN VACCINATED OR HOW TO GET VACCINATED.

WE ARE TRYING TO MAKE SURE WE COVER THAT POPULATION AS WELL.

WE ARE NOT GOING TO WANT TO DO IT EVERYDAY.

JUST HAVING THE GENTLEMAN ANSWERED THE DOOR AND STEP BACK.

BUT HE HAD COVID.

WE KEPT OUR DISTANCE.

BUT WE ALSO HAD A COUPLE KIDS IN THE HOUSE WE WERE WORRIED ABOUT AS WELL.

[00:50:01]

YOU ALL AROUND IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD, WE WANT TO PASS THE FLYERS OUT AND GET THAT INFORMATION OUT.

>> THANK YOU, MIKE.

ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM THE COMMITTEE? OKAY.

HEARING NONE, I HAVE AN ANNOUNCEMENT.

INVESTMENT MADE PUBLIC FOR THE SCHOOL BOARD AGENDA ON THURSDAY THE NAMES OF THE TWO SCHOOLS WE ARE CHANGING.

TC AND MATTHEW MAURY.

AND THE TWO NAMES PUT FORWARD BY THE SUPERINTENDENT WERE THE NAMES THAT RECEIVED THE MOST VOTES.

AND FOR TC, THE NAME THAT GOT THE MOST VOTES WAS ALEXANDRIA HIGH SCHOOL.

WHICH IS INTERESTING BECAUSE WE HAD AN ALEXANDER HIGH SCHOOL AT ONE TIME.

>> BACK TO THE FUTURE.

>> RIGHT.

>> THAT'S THE NAME PUT FORTH FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL AND FOR THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, NAOMI BROOKS ELEMENTARY.

>> I HAVE ALREADY TRIED.

>> I WAS THE FIRST ONE TO TELL MR. LEWIS THAT WAS A NICE REACTION I KNOW I MADE HIS ENTIRE YEAR.

>> THE NOMINEE BY THE WAY AND THE ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME.

>> THAT'S RIGHT.

>> WE WILL DISCUSS THE NAMES ON THURSDAY.

I DON'T SEE ANY CONTROVERSY AROUND IT.

BUT THIS IS THE SCHOOL BOARD.

BUT EVERYTHING SHOULD GO AS RECOMMENDED AND THEN WE WOULD VOTE AT THE NEXT SCHOOL BOARD MEETING.

>> THERE IS A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE 18TH.

AND THE VOTE IS ON APRIL 8.

>> I HAVE ONE AMENDMENT TO THAT, IF I COULD.

WOULD LIKE TO SEE ALEXANDRIA CITY HIGH SCHOOL.

I CAN SEE A SEAT.

>> I LIKE THAT.

I WOULD NOT BE OPPOSED TO ALEXANDRIA HIGH SCHOOL THERE WAS DISCUSSION BEHIND THE TEAMS WHICH THEY DO AXLE ALEXANDRIA.

AND I THINK THEY CAME TO THE CONSENSUS WE ARE THE REAL ALEXANDRIA.

AND SO WE DON'T NEED TO PUT ALEXANDRIA CITY.

BUT I LIKE HOW WE ARE ALEXANDRIA CITY PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

WILL BE ALEXANDRIA CITY HIGH SCHOOL.

BUT I WILL BRING THAT UP IN THE DISCUSSION.

I DON'T KNOW IF IT WOULD BE CONSIDERED.

BUT I KNOW I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE THAT WOULD LIKE TO SEE THAT.

>> DOES THE MASCOT STAY AS TITANS?

>> YES.

>> YES, WE WILL ALWAYS BE THE TITANS.

ALWAYS THE NAME THAT GOT THE SECOND AMOUNT OF VOTES WAS TIGHT AND COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL.

AND SO THAT CAME IN SECOND.

THAT WOULD'VE BEEN INTERESTING TO TIGHTEN COMMUNITY TITANS.

>> IT WAS INTERESTING TOO, THERE WAS AN ARTICLE IN THE PAPER TO PUSH NAMING IT AFTER â€" I CAN'T PRONOUNCE HER FIRST NAME.

BUT HUNLEY.

THAT DAY AFTER THE ARTICLE CAME OUT, WE GOT THOUSANDS OF VOTES.

NOT NECESSARILY FOR HER, BUT WE GOT A LOT OF PEOPLE TO PARTICIPATE.

SO THAT WAS A REALLY GOOD ARTICLE.

>> THAT IS GREAT.

SHE'S VERY DESERVING AS WELL.

HOPEFULLY WE WILL BE ABLE TO DO SOMETHING FOR HER FAMILY IN THE NEAR FUTURE.

>> OUR DAUGHTER IS COMING TO SPEAK AT THE MEETING ON THURSDAY.

>> OH GOOD!

>> HER GRANDDAUGHTER, I'M NOT SURE WHICH.

>> THAT WILL BE WONDERFUL.

>> FOR THE RECORD, ONE OF HER DAUGHTERS WAS AS GOOD AS ANY BASKETBALL PLAYER TO EVER COME OUT OF ALEXANDRIA.

>> DOES SHE HAVE A NOMINATION?

>> NOT YET.

>> WELL?

>> ALL RIGHT.

>> HEY, AK, I DON'T HAVE AN ANNOUNCEMENT BUT THIS WAS A NEW BACKGROUND.

THIS WAS INSTALLED LAST WEEK.

THEY ARE STILL WORKING ON THE STAIRWELLS AND SOME OF THE BY POINTS, BUT IT IS MUCH BIGGER THAN IT LOOKS IN THAT PICTURE THERE.

>>AK JOHNSON : THAT IS GREAT.

>> DO WE KNOW WHAT THE TIMELINE IS FOR THAT TO BE FINISHED?

[00:55:04]

>> IT HAS BEEN PUSHED A LITTLE BIT.

BECAUSE THE COMPANY IN TEXAS WHICH DOES THE FIELD ITSELF HAD SOME DAMAGE DONE TO IT WHEN THEY HAD THE BIG STORM, SO IT HAS BEEN PUSHED A LITTLE BIT.

BUT STILL BEFORE THE END OF THE SCHOOL YEAR.

>> ARE WE STILL ON TRACK WITH THE BLUEFIELD?

>> THAT IS THE DIRECTION WE ARE GOING, YET.

>> OKAY.

>> I'M SORRY.

IS A FIELD GOING TO BE BLUE?

>> THAT IS THE PLAN RIGHT NOW, YES.

BECAUSE THE INSTAGRAM, THE ATHLETIC INSTAGRAM SAID THE FIELD IS GOING TO BE GREEN, BUT EVERYONE VOTED VIEW BLUE AND I'M HAPPY TO HEAR ITS BLUE.

>> THAT WILL BE AWESOME.

I'M PUSHING FOR FIREWORKS.

>> I'M IN THE ATHLETIC INTERIM COMMITTEE AND WE ARE PUTTING TOGETHER WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO FOR OPENING NIGHTS AND FIREWORKS IS ONE OF THE THINGS WE HAVE PLANNED.

>> GOOD LUCK WITH THAT IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD.

>> THE NEIGHBORS ARE GOING TO LOVE IT.

>> ISN'T THERE A DECIMAL LEVEL WE CAN'T GO ABOVE OR SOMETHING?

>> YEAH.

>>AK JOHNSON : THE OTHER FUTURE BUSINESS AT OUR NEXT MEETING WILL TALK ABOUT THE CEREMONIES FOR NEXT FALL TO COME WITH THE TIMELINES AND WHAT WE WANT TO DO WITH IT.

NOT WE ARE DOING CEREMONY ON FRIDAY â€" SATURDAY AFTERNOON AFTER THE GAME.

INTRODUCING THE INDUCTEES DURING THE FRIDAY NIGHT GAME WITH LIGHTS.

AND SO THOSE ARE THINGS THAT YOU MAY BE THINKING ABOUT FOR THE NEXT MEETING.

>> THERE WAS A SUGGESTION LAST YEAR WHEN IT KEPT COMING UP WE HAD TO INDUCT AT SOME POINT THE TITANS.

BECAUSE THERE WAS CONCERN WE WANTED TO INDUCT THEM WHILE WE STILL COULD.

AND ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT WE WANTED TO HOLD THAT ONE PARTICULAR INDUCTION SEPARATE.

JUST BECAUSE IT IS A LOT MORE PEOPLE AND A LOT MORE INTEREST IN IT MIGHT TAKE AWAY FROM THE OTHER INDUCTEES.

AND THAT THEY ARE BEING OVERSHADOWED BY THIS BIG LEGEND.

BUT JUST A THOUGHT FOR YOU ALL TO THINK ABOUT.

>> WE NEED TO THINK ABOUT THAT MORE.

IT MAY NOT BE AS OVERWHELMING AS YOU THINK.

>> OKAY.

THAT IS FINE.

BUT WE WERE ALSO CONCERNED THAT THE BIG THING THE COMMUNITY WOULD WANT TO COME TO.

AND CAN WE HANDLE THAT AT THE SAME TIME AS WELL.

>> THAT MAY BE THE TIME YOU HAD TO PURCHASE A TICKET TO COME.

>> EXACTLY.

>> AND LIMIT HOW MANY PEOPLE WE CAN HANDLE WITH THE FACILITY.

>> I KNOW THERE WERE 68 MEMBERS ON THAT TEAM.

WHETHER WE CAN REACH OUT TO 68 MEMBERS, I KNOW THEY ARE NOT ALWAYS MEMBERS WHO ARE STILL ALIVE, THAT THEY HAVE FAMILY.

SO YOU DON'T KNOW FORGET.

>> OKAY.

THAT'S THE BIG DISCUSSION.

>> WHY WOULDN'T IT BE OVERWHELMING? I'M JUST CURIOUS.

>> IT MAY BE OVERWHELMING FROM A COMMUNITY STANDPOINT.

BUT FROM A PLAYER STANDPOINT, THERE ARE A LOT OF PLAYERS THAT ARE NOT HERE IN THE AREA.

>> OKAY.

>> THAT'S WHAT I WAS REFERRING TO.

>> GOT YOU.

>> BUT WHO WOULDN'T WANT TO COME BACK TO THEIR HIGH SCHOOL, COME ON.

>> YOU HAVE A POINT THERE AS WELL.

>> CAN WE PROVIDE COACH TICKETS FOR THEM? THAT'S ON A BUS, NOT A PLANE.

>> I WAS GOING TO SAY, WHAT ARE WE TALKING ABOUT.

IN THE PAST WHEN IT WAS SMALLER, THERE WERE SUMS THAT AT TIME WE HAD HELPED TO ATTEND.

I DON'T KNOW WHAT THAT WOULD COST IF WE ARE TALKING ABOUT THE SIGNIFICANT NUMBER OF PEOPLE.

OR PERHAPS WE DO HAVE THE COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTORS THAT MAYBE THAT IS SOMETHING THAT CAN BE RAISED AS PART OF A COMMUNITY EFFORT INSTEAD OF THE SCHOOL BOARD EFFORT.

BECAUSE OUR FUNDS ARE LIMITED.

>> I UNDERSTAND.

>> THE 57 PARKER GREAT BLUE OUR BUDGET OUT OF THE WATER.

JUST SAYING.

[01:00:01]

>>AK JOHNSON : OKAY.

>> BUT WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY.

>>AK JOHNSON : THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR PARTICIPATING TONIGHT.

I MOVE FOR ADJOURNMENT.

>> SECOND.

>>AK JOHNSON : THANK YOU.

EVERYONE STAY SAFE, THANK YOU FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION AND HAVE A GOOD EVENING.
